The highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Hatsuharu‘s popular manga “A Girl & Her Guard Dog” (“Ojō to Banken-kun”) is set to hit theaters on March 14th.
The official X/Twitter account for the film unveiled a new trailer and main visuals. The trailer also reveals and previews the film’s theme song, “Barrier” (“バリア”), performed by SixTONES.

Starring Jesse, a member of SixTONES, the film features an impressive cast, including Riko Fukumoto as Isaku Senagaki, Kaito Sakurai as Mikio Tanuki, Tetta Sugimoto as Tasuke Senagaki, Kisuke Iida as Junnosuke Tanuki, Nozomi Sasaki as Kaori Sekiya, Kanon as Yuma Katsuki, Haruna Matsui as Yuki Ando and Gunpee as Tenma Tatsuya.
The story follows Isaku Senagaki (Riko Fukumoto), a 15-years-old girl who never asked to be the daughter of a yakuza boss, but when her parents died in a car accident when she was 5, her gangster grandfather took her in and raised her as part of the clan. After years of being avoided by her schoolmates because of her family ties, Isaku is finally ready to make her high-school debut, live a normal life, and maybe even find love…until loyal family servant and Isaku’s dedicated guardian, 26-year-old Keiya Utō (Jesse), enters high school right alongside her and vows to protect her from all of the above. COMMENT BY JESSE ABOUT THE THEME SONG
The theme song “Barrier” is a perfect song for “A Girl & Her Guard Dog” which is a bit different from ordinary love stories. The lyrics are written from Keiya‘s point of view, but the melody line of the song is also sprinkled with SixTONES‘ own style, and it is a very well-balanced and cool song that will fit into the world of “A Girl & Her Guard Dog” right until the very end of the film!
In the film, Keiya dotes on Isaku to the point of overprotectiveness, and I think it’s a wonderful thing to take action to protect the things you love like Keiya does, so after watching the film, please be sure to ‘barrier’ your loved ones properly!
With the announcement of the new song, SixTONES are on a roll since the start of the new year. They released their album on January 15th, called “GOLD” where you can see all the details here.
On the occasion of the release of their album, SixTONES will go on a dome tour called “YOUNG OLD” where they will tour the 5 domes of Japan, starting January 24th in Tokyo, February in Fukuoka and Osaka, March in Hokkaido and April they will finish in Nagoya.
On January 22nd they will celebrate their fifth anniversary of their debut and on May 1st their tenth anniversary of formation. It’s certainly a promising year for SixTONES!
