The beloved national snack Tabekko Doubutsu is making its big-screen debut with Tabekko Doubutsu THE MOVIE, set for nationwide release on May 1, 2025. It has been announced that Travis Japan, the group to which lead actor Genta Matsuda (voice of Lion) belongs, will perform the filmโs theme song, “Would You Like One?”.
The song, inspired by the movieโs story, carries the theme of โmoving forward with joy, no matter how difficult the situation.โ It will be digitally released on April 28. The main trailer and official visuals have also been revealed, along with comments from the members of Travis Japan, who are taking on their first-ever movie theme song.
The newly released trailer opens with a shocking scene: a massive outbreak of cotton candy in Sweets Land, a world where sweets and humans live in harmony. The villainous King Cotton (voiced by Hochu Otsuka) and his Cotton Candy Army seek to eliminate all sweets and take over the world. As chaos unfolds, the Tabekko Doubutsu crew finds themselves on the run, and their dear friend Pegasus-chan (voiced by Akari Takaishi) is captured!
Despite their zero combat abilities, the adorable yet powerless Tabekko Doubutsu have always relied on their charm to escape danger. However, as tensions rise and friendships are tested, they begin to lose hope. Lion-kun (Genta Matsuda), initially hesitant about the seemingly impossible rescue mission, is inspired by Elephant-kun (Koji Mizukami) and rises to the challenge. Will they be able to defeat King Cottonโs army, save their friend, and rescue the world?
The newly released official visual showcases the Tabekko Doubutsu crew with unexpectedly determined expressions, hinting at an adventure filled with surprises, laughter, and heartfelt moments.
The Theme Song: Would You Like One?
Performed by Travis Japan, the song features an upbeat, catchy melody with a funky rhythm. The lyrics include food-related phrases like “Itadakimasu” (Letโs eat!) and “Meshiagare” (Bon appรฉtit!), making it a perfect fit for the movie.
