STARTO ENTERTAINMENT group, 4U. (ふぉ~ゆ~) started their YouTube journey yesterday. The group posted a YouTube short announcing their channel at 2pm JST.
Their first weekend on the platform started out with a bang. 4U. did a live stream during the encore portion of the first show of ENTA!6, their yearly winter variety show, followed by their first YouTube video premiered a few hours later.
4U.’s first YouTube video is subtle but shows off exactly why they are so beloved by their fans. This video shows each member as they take their turn coming into a meeting room. They’re surrounded by cameras filming them as they interact with a mystery staff communicating with them via text on a TV screen. Whether they’re given hints or slowly come to the realization themselves, each member of the group eventually learns they’re starting YouTube and this will be their first video!
Although some may say that this isn’t an explosive start, the beauty in it lies in how it is the perfect introduction to 4U. as a group. Instead of throwing the whole group on screen for them to learn that they are starting YouTube, we’re first introduced to a single member of 4U., Tatsumi Yudai, and go on a journey with him as he discovers the true reason why he and his group were called to this location today.
As the video builds with members Fukuda Yuta, Koshioka Yuki and finally Matsuzaki Yusuke joining Tatsumi, we see each person’s individual personality being highlighted while also giving new viewers insight into the group’s dynamics. It also gives time for those unfamiliar with 4U. to learn what kind of person each member is before someone new is added. It’s a slow build over the course of the video’s almost nineteen minute run time but is completely worth watching to learn the group.
It’s difficult to put into words how wonderful this video was. It has all of the joy, passion, and humor that is found in a 4U. show, and it is wonderful seeing them be able to make YouTube content not only for their fans but people who might be curious about them. This video is the first of, hopefully, many YouTube videos to come from 4U.
