Bishonen’s performance as Secret Guests at Tokyo Girls Collection 2024 Spring/Summer was uploaded to YouTube. The fourteen minute long video shows off the group’s classic idols vibes and strong live vocals from start to finish!
The group opened with the well loved ARASHI song, Wild at Heart (ワイルド アット ハート). What made this performance memorable was not only their song choice, but the use of microphone stands in their choreography. A good bit of mic stand choreography is always appreciated because it is a rare commodity in performances nowadays. It made this a memorable song as Bishonen danced along to the choreography.
What really made this particular performance interesting was the use of drones. Nearing the end of Wild at Heart, sprint down the catwalk to the small stage, and a drone flies around them creating dynamic action shots.
Bishonen also performed two of their original songs while on stage, Kiseki ga Okiru Toki (奇跡が起きるとき) and Niji no Naka de (虹の中で). Although neither song is as upbeat and bouncy as Wild at Heart, what made these two songs fun to watch were the vocal performances by all of the members. Singing live, especially in front of an audience who might not know who you are, is difficult, but Bishonen’s stage presence showed them off as seasoned performers.
More than anything, member Taisho Iwasaki’s vocals stood out to me throughout all three songs. At just twenty-one years old, Taisho has the vocal maturity of someone almost twice his age. No matter the song, his singing voice stood out. It is not to say the other members are not vocally talented. Yuto Nasu kept up quite nicely with his low and sultry voice, and the charisma of the whole group is evident throughout the whole video.
This performance at Tokyo Girl’s Collections certainly highlighted the wonderful pointed about Bishonen to not only their fans but those who might not know who they are. I hope they continue to shine brightly throughout the rest of 2024 and into the future.
