4U.‘s performance of CALL & RESPONSE 4U., originally performed at their 2023 tour, HAPPY 4U. HOUR, is their latest upload to their YouTube channel! The song, created by Hyadain, is an eight minute long masterpiece of a song that shows off all of the best parts of the group.
Consisting of members Yuta Fukuda, Yudai Tatsumi, Yuki Koshioka, and Yusuke Matsuzaki, 4U. are masters of comedy, dancing, singing, acting, and talking. When you go to a 4U. show, you can expect to be entertained in every definition of the word. CALL & RESPONSE 4U. is no exception to this statement.
Starting off as a bit of a rock number, the song begins with the titular call and response between 4U. and their fans before each member takes to the center of the stage to direct the audience in a member of their choosing. Some moments are fairly standard, for example, Tatsumi asking the fans to wave their arms like wipers, while others can get quite silly, such as Koshioka asking their fans to wiggle their hips with him or the whole group asking their fans to fangirl over their juniors, Naniwa Danshi.
The song does take an even sillier turn later into the performance with 4U. messing up their chant. It leads to quite a dramatic twist that is best saved for viewing. Please give the performance a watch to see what happens when 4U. realize their chant is wrong!
CALL & RESPONSE 4U. is not the kind of song that could be performed on a music TV show, but that doesn’t make it a bad song or performance. It’s the kind of song where 4U. should be surrounded by adoring fans and one where they can take their time building crazy and chaotic memories with everyone in attendance. In my most humble opinion, it is best saved to be performed at a concert.
From the rock beats to the twist to a high energy backing track to all of the comedy and hilarity in between, CALL & RESPONSE 4U. is the perfect introduction to the wonderfully chaotic and hilarious nature of 4U. to those who may not know them yet. I highly recommend giving it a watch and falling in love with these four lovely idols!
