The cast of the drama CD for Kis-My-Ft2’s Toshiya Miyata’s upcoming light novel Kyoukai no Melody (5/24 release) has been announced!
Kent Ito will be playing the role of Kyousuke Tsurumaki, a high school student who played the piano while Snow Man’s Daisuke Sakuma will be playing the role of Kai Amano, a student two years younger than Kyousuke, who passed away in a tragic accident.
The light novel depicts youth and the brilliance of life of these two characters, connected together under the theme of music. Together, they formed the duo “Kanitama” and were in talks for a major debut before Kai’s untimely death. Since then, Kyousuke had led a lethargic life without music, that was, until Kai suddenly appeared three years later in Kyousuke’s apartment.
The story was developed for over a year and a half or two, according to the author and drama CD narrator, Toshiya Miyata. He stated in some interviews that he cut time for sleeping and watching anime, at times even coming to work with only 3 hours of sleep. The illustrations for the cover and the characters are done by LAM, known for his unique art style, particularly for Kanaria.
Kyoukai no Melody also features other characters, such as a rival band named “Samuraia,” composed of members Takeshi, Makoto, and Minoru. There is also the signature girl of the restaurant that Kyousuke and Kai frequented, named Yui.
In addition to the drama CD cast, on the novel’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, it has been announced who has written recommendations for the book’s obi (sleeve). Firstly was Toradora’s writer, Yuyuko Kakemiya. She had written, “They were born separately, but with music, they became one. When they became separate people, they could be together with music. The connection is broken and the story fades away. It is a salvation to those who are left behind and those who are going away.”
The second person to be revealed was Kis-My-Ft2 member Taisuke Fujigaya. He was the first member to read the book as Miyata knew he loved books. Fujigaya had written, “I like the story where the style takes me. I like a world where the sound takes me. If you were taken into this world, what would you do?”

“I’m Ito Kent, who plays Tsurumaki Kyousuke in the drama CD. I can’t believe this opportunity came!
For me, it’s a new challenge and a dream role. I was asked by Miyata-kun and I met a wonderful person like Sakuma-kun. I’m really glad that we both could make our appearance. Needless to say, Miyata-kun and Sakuma-kun are pros among professionals when showing off their skills. While working with these two, I was able to notice things that I normally wouldn’t notice while working with other voice actors and I was able to enjoy the live atmosphere while recording on the spot.
Along with the novel, I’d appreciate it if you could enjoy the drama CD over and over again. Please look forward to it!”

“I’m Snow Man’s Sakuma Daisuke, playing the role of Amano Kai in the drama CD. When I read the script that was given to me, I thought that it was a really great work.
I’m curious where it goes from here and I’d love to voice the story in the future.
Also, this is my first drama CD and I’m glad to be able to do the first one on a work by Miyata-kun, who has taken care of me a lot.
