About Chi☆Q

Debuting on April 1, 1989—the very first day of the Heisei era—Chi☆Q were unlike any other idols. Marketed as “esper idols,” they stunned audiences with spoon-bending, psychic photography, and a uniquely retro charm that captured the energy of a changing era. Their blend of showmanship, strangeness, and sincerity became a pop-culture touchstone now remembered as “Heisei retro.”
In 2025, after 36 years of twists, transformations, and comebacks, Chi☆Q are finally taking their last bow.
(Some sources suggesting connections to Hey! Say! JUMP members Daiki Arioka and Yuri Chinen, though nothing has been officially confirmed.)
