You Yokoyamaโknown affectionately as Yoko to fans and members alikeโembarked on his first solo project in 15 years: the ROCK TO YOU LIVE TOUR 2024. Spanning 11 cities from late July to mid-September, the tour marked a new chapter for the 44-year-old entertainer, blending self-reflection with raw musical energy.
Long recognized for his quick wit and comedic flair on television, Yokoyama revealed a different side of himself on this tourโone that thrives on reinvention. From percussionist to trumpeter to guitarist, heโs never been one to stay still, and ROCK TO YOU proved no exception. Centered around the question โWhat is rock?โ, the show explored his evolving artistry and connection with the audience.
Dumpling Box attended the tourโs final stop at Zepp Haneda on September 16, where over 3,000 fans filled the venue for an intimate evening of laughter, warmth, and honest emotion. With nothing but a guitar, a band, and his voice, Yoko delivered a performance that stripped away spectacle to reveal the heart of what it means to keep believing, creating, and connecting.
From riff-driven anthems to quiet ballads, ROCK TO YOU wasnโt just a showcase of skillโit was a statement of intent. For Yokoyama, rock isnโt about genre or image. Itโs about living the way you want, failing forward, and trusting yourself to begin again.
