The three-member group timelesz, consisting of Sato Shori, Kikuchi Fuma, and Matsushima So, has announced that their audition process for new members will be exclusively streamed on Netflix. The series, titled “timelesz Project -AUDITION-“, will premiere on September 13 in Japan, followed by a worldwide release at a later date!
After rebranding from Sexy Zone on April 1, timelesz announced their plans to hold auditions for new members. This announcement drew a staggering 18,922 applications. The group, under the banner “timelesz Project“, has taken on the role of judges and is currently in the second round of evaluations.
The group has released a few short videos on YouTube talking about the process so far, sneak-peeks into the behind-the-scenes, their goals, and dreams from now on as they embark on their new journey.
For long-time fans, this project will be a must-see to dive even deeper into the thoughts and opinions of the group going forward. For those who hear about them for the first time, it will act as a door into the deep history that the three members share since their debut back in 2011.
The documentary RIDE ON TIME is available on Netflix, and in season five, we get to follow the group for four episodes, then under the name Sexy Zone.

In a remote interview conducted between audition sessions, the trio shared their thoughts. Kikuchi Fuma expressed his surprise, saying, “Honestly, I was shocked. At first, we considered broadcasting on our YouTube channel or launching new SNS and YouTube channels. So, it was a surprise when Netflix approached us, given the chaotic live streams we had been doing.“
Sato Shori added, “I was genuinely surprised and delighted. It’s a great honor to have the support of Netflix, a platform that allows us to reach a global audience. It’s amazing to see the scale of this project grow.“
Matsushima So also shared his excitement: “It’s incredibly gratifying to have such a major platform support us. The fact that people can watch our journey as we create a new group is significant. Auditions are very popular, and I think this will attract not only our fans but also those interested in the audition process itself. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share our agency’s history and story with a broader audience.”
