Ren Nagase appeared at the premium lighting ceremony for the film “映画ラストマン -FIRST LOVE-” (director: Hirano Shunichi/distributor: Shochiku) at Tokyo Midtown in Akasaka, on 19 November, alongside actors Fukuyama Masaharu, Oizumi Yo, Kimura Tae, Yoshida Yo, and Miyazawa Rie.

This is the film adaptation of the television series “The Last Man: The Blind Profiler (ラストマン-全盲の捜査官-)” , It was aired on TBS Television as a Sunday drama in April 2023 and was well received. The story follows the peculiar relationship between Minami Hiromi, a blind FBI agent, “the last man standing, the ace up the sleeve who always solves the cases“, played by Fukuyama, and Shintaro Godo, a lone detective played by Oizumi, as they solve complex cases. Ren Nagase plays Izumi Godo, Shintaro‘s nephew and head of the Personnel Exchange Planning Office of the Personnel Division of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, which reports to the Cabinet Secretariat.
This time, Minami and Shintaro travel to Hokkaido, where they reunite with Nagisa (Rie Miyazawa), Minami‘s first love. A brilliant engineer, she is being pursued by people from all over the world and is seeking asylum in the United States. She asks her former lover, Minami for protection for herself and her daughter Nina (Rui Tsukishima).
As it had been almost two years since the drama version, Ren commented, “It took me a while to remember the atmosphere, and I was nervous.” Yoshida, who was standing next to him, added, “I wasn’t nervous,” even after filming began, and upon hearing this, Ren completely changed his mind, saying, “I remembered, I wasn’t nervous.” Fukuyama and Oizumi replied, “You were nervous,” but he said, “As soon as I put on the suit that Izumi was wearing, my nerves disappeared,” explaining that he no longer felt nervous after putting on the costume for the role.

“The Last Man: The Blind Profiler (ラストマン-全盲の捜査官-)” will be released nationwide on 24th December, to mark the film’s premiere on Christmas Eve when the cast were asked about their memories of Christmas and Christmas lights, there was a moment of silence, which Oizumi broke by saying, “They’re boring, aren’t they? (Laughter) Do you have any?” prompting laughter. Meanwhile, Ren smiled and commented, “Every year, I exchange Christmas presents with Kaito, we agree on a price and give each other gifts. We did it on a music programme last year and received wonderful gifts.“
