It has been announced that SixTONES’ Hokuto Matsumura will star in the film “1ST KISS/ファーストキス” / “1ST KISS/First Kiss”, along with Takako Matsu.
The screenwriter is Yuji Sakamoto, who is one of Japan’s leading scriptwriters. He is highly acclaimed for his work depicting the complex relationships between characters and the people around them, and the characters’ way of life as they search for their lives. This is Sakamoto‘s latest original theatre film, his first since winning the Best Screenplay Award at the 76th Cannes International Film Festival. Director Ayuko Tsukahara takes the megaphone. This is the first collaboration between Sakamoto and Tsukahara, who have produced many hit films.
The story follows Kanna Suzuri (Takako Matsu) who has been married for 15 years, and one day, her husband, called Kakeru Suzuri (Hokuto Matsumura), died in an accident. She and her husband had long been in a malaise and remained at loggerheads. Just as the surviving wife is about to start a second life, she obtains a time travel device. Back in the past, she finds her husband just before he met her. Seeing her husband as he was when they first met, she thinks “I still loves him”. When she sees her husband again, she falls in love with him once more. And then she thinks: “Fifteen years later, he dies in an accident and I have to save him.”
What is a couple? What is family? What is life with a loved one? These are deep and simple questions that we all face in life and have no answers. This story is a heart-wrenching love story that questions the meaning of these questions.

I cannot tell how much Yuji Sakamoto‘s works and books have influenced me.
I am proud of my life to be able to participate in a film written by Yuji Sakamoto and directed by Ayuko Tsukahara.
I was intimidated by the sheer beauty of the work, but thanks to the support of Takako Matsu, a regular participant in Sakamoto‘s films, I was able to face the work every day until I was exhausted.
It’s always a wonderful story, no matter when you see it or remember it.
