The new drama from TBS, entitled リブート — (“Reboot”), now has a confirmed cast: alongside Ryohei Suzuki and co-starring Erika Toda; Ren Nagase and Ryoka Fujisawa join as key characters, promising intrigue and tension from the very first episode. This will be Ryoka‘s first appearance in a TBS drama series. The script has been written by KuroiwaTsutomu, known for major Sunday Theater hits such as Grand Maison Tokyo, TOKYO MER: Running Emergency Room, and Last Man: The Blind Investigator. “Reboot” is already considered one of the most anticipated suspense dramas of early 2026!
In this story of “extreme family suspense,” the protagonist (played by Ryohei Suzuki) is forced to assume the identity of a corrupt police officer to prove his innocence after being falsely accused of murdering his wife, but in order to prove his innocence, he “reboots” himself into the face of corrupt Metropolitan Police Department detective Ayumu Gido (Suzuki in a dual role) and pursues the truth. Lies and truth intertwine, and the story unfolds at a furious pace.
Ren will play the character Fuyuhashi Wataru: a man with a double life — on the one hand, he works for an NPO organisation that helps homeless children, while on the other, he is a member of a shadowy criminal organisation as the right-hand man of the group’s boss. Fuyuhashi also acts as a liaison between the organisation and crime bosses, and is tasked with keeping an eye on the protagonist.
Alongside him, Ryoka Fujisawa will play Kiriya Naoto, his inseparable buddy. Kiriya is presented as a charismatic, communicative and seemingly carefree character — traits that distance him from the typical sombre image of a mafia character — but whose loyalty to Fuyuhashi is absolute. His cheerful and carefree character will deliberately contrast with the darkness of his actions.
The two are ordered by Goro Wataru (played by Yukiya Kitamura) to keep an eye on Gido, and they become closely involved with Hayase (who has been rebooted into Gido). At the same time, they also become closer to Hayase‘s sense of unease. Are these two allies or enemies? Will the rebooted Hayase be able to use them to uncover the truth?

I was truly happy and humbled to be invited to appear in Sunday Theatre again. The script written by screenwriter Kuroiwa was incredibly engaging, with a dark atmosphere and a complex, intertwined storyline. At first, I was so engrossed in the story that I forgot to think about how to play my role. As I continued to read, I was naturally drawn into the world of the story.
My character, Fuyuhashi, is the most violent character I’ve ever played. However, he’s not just violent; he also harbors hidden sadness and a purpose. He’s portrayed as a conflicted person, not simply evil. This “Reboot” series is about justice for not only him, but each and every character. I was honored to have the opportunity to play the role of Fuyuhashi, a man who adheres to his own sense of justice, and I’m grateful to producers Higashinaka and Kuroiwa.

Ryohei is a very reliable person, and his uncompromising approach to every scene was truly captivating. I admire him for all his qualities, and I learned so much from watching him and learning from his powerful presence.
Due to the difference in physique, I am trying to portray Fuyuhashi with a strong will and not be intimidated by Ryohei‘s overwhelming aura and intimidating presence, so I hope you will enjoy my performance.
The story unfolds at a rapid pace, with each episode offering breathtaking moments. It’s a work that can be enjoyed over and over again, so please watch it while trying to make deductions the first time, and then the next time, after learning the whole truth, focus on each character and realize what they were doing at that time! This will give you a deeper enjoyment.
Personally, I would like you to pay attention to the changes in the relationship between Fuyuhashi and Hayase. I personally found it extremely rewarding to see how their relationship and Fuyuhashi‘s stance change with each episode. Don’t miss a single second of “Reboot,” so please look forward to it!

I’m honored to be appearing in my first drama series at Sunday Theatre. I started by learning how to read a script and then worked my way through the story. The story is serious overall, and with every page I turned, I was drawn in by breathtaking scenes that left me pondering who was friend and who was foe. Even in this dark atmosphere, my character, Kiriya, seems a little more relaxed than the other characters, and there’s something comforting about his relaxed nature. But even that seems to harbor something hidden within him. As I continued to read, I found it extremely difficult to get to grips with Kiriya‘s inner self, right up until the very end.
Despite his clumsiness, Kiriya has a strong sense of love, and the glimpses of those feelings really touched me. I tried to keep that in mind while doing my best to portray this character. I hope you will continue to support me.
Suzuki Ryohei always gave me kind advice, even though I was throwing myself into the role without knowing what to do, and I’m truly grateful for that. I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to star in my first drama series under his tutelage, whose passion for acting and the atmosphere on set are so important.
While there are many serious scenes, the most important theme of this work is “family love.” This story also features families of various kinds. Their love and beliefs intersect, sometimes clashing and sometimes intertwining. I believe viewers will enjoy the tension of the bargaining that unfolds.
With this pair of young actors—both from the world of music and hugely popular—the production aims to combine emotion, visual appeal and moral conflict. The series premieres in January 2026, every Sunday at 9 p.m!
