Following a standout year with lead roles in two dramas and a movie, Naniwa Danshi‘s leader joins the cast of the final season of “Emergency Interrogation Room” alongside Takahiro Takigawa.

Penned by Yumiko Inoue, “Emergency Interrogation Room” follows interrogator Yukiko Makabe (Yuki Amami) and her specialized team, the Emergency Case Interrogation Unit—commonly known as Kintori—as they engage in intense psychological battles with heinous criminals inside a special interrogation room equipped with full audiovisual recording systems.
This popular series, boasting a 12-year history, finally comes to an end with the ninth episode of its fifth TV season, which aired on TV Asahi Thursdays at 9:00 PM JST. Alongside episodes that tie into the theatrical conclusion, “Emergency Interrogation Room: THE FINAL,” set for release on December 26, Yukiko and her team take on the strongest suspects in the series’ history.
The TV drama aired its concluding episode, an extended special, on December 18, and featured Kazuya Ohashi and Tetsuji Tamayama as key guest stars.

OVERVIEW
During firearms training at a police academy, a student named Kentaro Miyamoto (Ohashi) suddenly fires his gun at a fellow classmate—yet he refuses to explain his motive. Meanwhile, charismatic instructor Takahiro Takigawa (Tamayama), who was overseeing the training, refuses to submit the full surveillance footage showing the exact moment the bullet struck, citing the need “to protect the students’ personal information.”
At the same time, the “Motsunabe duo” from the First Investigative Division—who work closely with Kintori (played by Mokomichi Hayami and Kosuke Suzuki)—sense a strange and unsettling atmosphere surrounding Takigawa‘s training program. Still, the truth behind the incident remains shrouded in mystery. Amid this uncertainty, a new hypothesis emerges at the end of the previous episode: “Was Miyamoto‘s real target actually Takigawa?”
Based on this hypothesis, Yukiko and the Kintori team launch a meticulously coordinated investigation that very night, receiving help from former colleagues in the First Investigative Division—detectives Ami Ikoma (Manami Higa), Torazo Sakai (Toru Nomaguchi), and Yoshiharu Yamagami (Asuka Kudo). In order to uncover the full truth of the case, they proceed with the last interrogation of the TV series: questioning Takigawa himself. That showdown evolves into an absolute do-or-die battle, one that puts personal pride and deeply held beliefs on the line. As Yukiko confronts Takigawa with her hypothesis, he passionately asserts his convictions as an instructor, declaring with certainty he has no reason to believe his students harbor any dissatisfaction toward him. Undeterred, Yukiko, guided by her own unshakable principles, continues to pursue him head-on, with unwavering resolve. What kind of emotionally stirring story will emerge from their confrontation?
The final episode is packed with everything that has defined the essence of Kintori, which captivated viewers for over a decade. As the team presses forward with fierce conviction—both as police officers and as human beings—the most intense and climactic interrogation of the series’ run unfolds. Don’t miss the explosive finale of “Emergency Interrogation Room Season 5,” currently streaming on TVer.
