SixTONES Test Their Bond and English Skills in Singapore — With Only Emojis to Guide Them

SixTONES’ latest YouTube project takes them out of familiar territory—literally—and drops them into Singapore for a sixth-anniversary challenge that’s equal parts travel experiment, communication puzzle, and chaos generator.

Titled 「俺たちに絆はあるのか!? in シンガポール」(Can Our Bond Survive!? in Singapore), the premise is simple enough: scatter the six members across the island and see whether they can reunite using nothing but emojis to communicate their locations.

In practice, that simplicity falls apart almost immediately.

Each member starts in a completely different part of Singapore, from food centers and historic neighborhoods to beaches, gardens, and cultural districts. With maps and text off-limits, the only way to convey where they are—or where they’re heading—is through single emojis sent at fixed intervals. Each emoji they send makes complete sense to the one who sends it, but does it really convey the same to the others?

What makes the video especially engaging isn’t just the challenge itself, but how quickly it turns into a test of language—what they know, what they assume, and what gets lost in translation. English phrases come out half-formed. Place names don’t quite land. Even asking for directions becomes a small adventure, filled with gestures, trial-and-error explanations, and the occasional moment of “I think we understood each other… maybe?”

If you want to see how SixTONES handle being completely out of their element, this Singapore trip is very much worth pressing play on.

Jesse’s English skills are certainly put to the test, but so are the others! Who do you think did the best out of the members?
