Ado Ignites Blue Lock’s Live-Action Film With New Theme Song “Monstruo” (モンストロ)

A new fire is rising inside Blue Lock.

Ado has been announced as the artist behind “Monstruo” (モンストロ), the theme song for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Blue Lock, starring Fumiya Takahashi and set for release on Friday, August 7. A main trailer featuring a preview of the track has also been unveiled, offering fans their first taste of the explosive energy Ado is bringing to the world of ego, ambition, and survival.

Based on the hugely popular soccer manga Blue Lock, written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, the story has already surpassed 50 million copies in circulation. After its TV anime adaptation in 2022 and a theatrical anime release two years later, the franchise has expanded across mobile games, stage productions, and now, live-action cinema.

At the heart of Blue Lock is the “Blue Prison” project, launched by the Japan Football Union to create the ultimate striker capable of leading Japan to World Cup victory. Three hundred high school forwards are gathered from across the country and thrown into a brutal survival competition, where talent alone is not enough. To survive, they must awaken their ego, break through common sense, and become something almost monstrous.

That is where Monstruo” feels especially fitting as the theme song for the movie and series.

The title, meaning “monster” in Spanish, captures the song’s central image: waking the creature within and charging forward higher, faster, and fiercer than anyone else.

There is also something poetic about that choice of language. Soccer has long been woven into Spain’s cultural identity, and in a story obsessed with creating the world’s greatest striker, a Spanish title feels like a quiet nod to one of the sport’s most enduring powerhouses. It gives “Monstruo” an added sense of scale, reminding listeners that the dreams born inside Blue Lock‘s walls are ultimately aimed at the world stage.

Composed and arranged by Giga, with lyrics by ryo of supercell, the track follows Ado’s previous hits “Odo” and “Show” with a Latin-inspired rhythm that moves with heat, speed, and danger. It resonates with the same hunger the characters of Blue Lock showcase, each and every one of them inhabiting a “monster of their own” on the field.

Ado’s voice, known for its ability to shift from sharp-edged power to theatrical intensity in a heartbeat, collides with rapid-fire rap and a relentless sense of motion. The result is a song that does not simply accompany Blue Lock’s world—it seems to sprint directly through it with the goal in mind, like a true striker.

Alongside Fumiya, the film features a wide cast including Kaito Sakurai, Kyohei Takahashi of Naniwa Danshi, Keito Tsuna, Kota Nomura, K of &TEAM, Yuzu Aoki, Sho Nishigaki, So Show Tomimoto, Yuki Kura, Keisuke Higashi, Mei Hata, and Masataka Kubota.

With “Monstruo,” Ado gives Blue Lock a theme that burns with the same question at the center of the story: how far can a person go once they stop hiding from the monster inside, and how far will it take them?
