Tomoyuki Yaraโs โTHE YOUNG LOVE DISCOTHEQUEโ Passes to a New Generation, Delivering an Even Greater Wave of Excitement
An evolved form of dance and live entertainment, created through the meeting of an inherited vision and new talent, is about to begin with โTHE RE:BORN CHASING DISCOTHEQUE LIVE.โ
At the centre of that next chapter is Keita Richard Kusama, who previously appeared in the 2018 and 2019 productions of Tomoyuki Yara‘s โTHE YOUNG LOVE DISCOTHEQUE.โ Having already experienced its world alongside Yara, Richard will now take on a much larger role in carrying it forward.
Created by Yara, โTHE YOUNG LOVE DISCOTHEQUEโ is a distinctive dance and live entertainment production where music, choreography, and performance come together in real time. Rather than keeping the action limited to the stage, the show transforms the entire venue into a shared space, encouraging the audience to become part of the atmosphere and excitement.
That sense of connection has always been central to โDISCOTHEQUE,โ and Richard now has the opportunity to bring his own personality to it.
Over the years, Yara has worked closely with many younger performers, supporting them through choreography, guidance and shared stage experience. For this new production, Richard was the performer he chose to entrust with the world he had created.
Known for his distinctive groove, powerful dance ability and strong stage presence, Richard is well suited to the challenge. Rather than simply recreating what came before, he will bring his own instincts and expression to the production while maintaining a clear respect for Yaraโs original vision.
The project also carries personal meaning for both performers. Richard and Yara had spoken for years about wanting to work together again, and that hope will finally become reality seven years after Richardโs previous appearance in the series.
As overall producer, director and choreographer, Yara hopes the new production will remind audiences of the freedom and joy at the heart of dance. At a time when dance has become more widely recognised, he also wants to highlight its street-culture roots and the sense of groove passed down through the music and dance of the 1980s and 1990s.
Those influences will remain an important part of the production, but โTHE RE:BORN CHASING DISCOTHEQUE LIVEโ will also look ahead and explore what โDISCOTHEQUEโ can become in a new era.
Music director m.c.AใปT, who has been involved with the project since its beginning, will further shape that new direction by writing an original song especially for the production.
The titleโs โREโ reflects the idea of rebuilding and renewing something that already carries a strong history. With Richard stepping forward, Yara guiding the production and new music joining the familiar spirit of โDISCOTHEQUE,โ the show is not simply returningโit is being reimagined for its next generation.

Richard is active across a wide range of fields, including dance, saxophone performance and acting, and has also established a strong presence on variety television programmes.
With his high level of expression and performance ability, he has captivated audiences across a wide variety of stages.
He previously received dance lessons from Tomoyuki Yara. His strongest dance genres are hip-hop and locking.

As I inherit โDISCOTHEQUE,โ I want to express, in my own way, my respect for the world that Yara-kun has created over the years.
Yara-kun and I had spoken for a long time about wanting to do something together someday, so I am genuinely happy that we will finally have the opportunity to work together.
At the same time, when I first received the offer, I had many thoughts running through my mind. I wondered whether I would be able to show the fans who I am today and whether I would be able to express myself completely and give 100 percent of what makes me who I am.
Even so, I am sincerely grateful to have been given a place where I can express myself and to have encountered an opportunity like this.
More than anything, I am looking forward to meeting the fans in person. Nothing can replace the joy and excitement I feel when my entertainment reaches more and more people.

Dancer, actor, choreographer, and entertainment producer.
With his outstanding dance skills and rich expressive ability, Yara has been active across a wide range of fields, including theatre and live performances.
He also dedicates himself to creative work that draws on his own experience and sensibilities, having handled choreography and direction for numerous productions.
Since 2018, he has served as overall producer of โTHE YOUNG LOVE DISCOTHEQUE,โ creating a distinctive form of entertainment that combines music and dance and has captivated many audience members.

โTHE YOUNG LOVE DISCOTHEQUEโ is the culmination of the dance I have pursued since I was a teenager. For me, it is a work that represents the very heart of entertainment.
Since launching it in 2018, it has remained both my starting point and my foundation whenever I perform as an artist.
By having Richard inherit this production, I believe we will be able to bring โDISCOTHEQUEโ to more people than ever before.
Precisely because dance is now so popular, I hope the production will allow people who already love dance to trace its roots, while also giving those unfamiliar with dance something they can simply laugh at and enjoy.
โDISCOTHEQUEโ is fully participatory entertainment that involves the audience as well.
I want even generations who have never experienced a disco to feel the unity created in that space.
The production began with the desire to create a single disco environment in which the audience does more than simply wave their hands as they might at a concert. Everyone in the venue uses their whole body to dance.
It is neither a conventional live concert nor a stage play. It is the ultimate form of entertainment.
I think audiences will enjoy it even more when they participate with the feeling that they are performers themselves.
