Kento Nakajimaโs debut solo album, “N / bias” (pronounced “non-bias”)has released its lead track, “Picaresque” (ใใซใฌในใฏ), for pre-streaming on October 28 at midnight, accompanied by its music video.
Written by Kento himself, “Picaresque” draws from the concept of the picaresque novel, traditionally centered around rogue heroes, to explore the inner turmoil, sorrow, and determination of a dark hero forging his path forward. The trackโs modern, genre-blending sound captures his evolving artistic identity, grounded in themes of resilience and self-discovery.
The music video, directed by Masaki Watanabe from maxilla, takes inspiration from classical painting, combining striking contrasts of fire and shadow to convey the intensity of the songโs narrative. This powerful visual setting enhances the songโs underlying emotions of anger and sadness, immersing viewers in the world of a hero confronting both internal and external battles.
In celebration of the album, Kento will participate in nationwide radio events, starting on November 3, sharing insights into his creative journey for N / bias. Heโll also embark on his first live concert series, โKENTO NAKAJIMA 1st Live 2025 โN / biasโ,โ which is scheduled for January 17, 18, and 19, 2025, offering fans a chance to experience his new work live, along with a special discussion on his first solo album.

“Picaresque,” as the leading track from “N / bias,” showcases Nakajimaโs strength in lyrical storytelling, painting a complex portrait of a misunderstood hero. He captures the conflicts of self-perception and public opinion, contemplating, โIf Iโm seen as evil by everyone in this world, who will see the truth?โ The trackโs modern sound and introspective lyrics mark a bold new chapter in his career, reflecting themes of defiance and self-discovery.
The music video amplifies these themes through visuals inspired by classical art, using the contrasts of fire and darkness to symbolize a heroโs battle against his surroundings. Kento dedicated himself fully to the project, filming over two intense days to deliver this layered, emotionally charged experience, embodying the drive to pursue oneโs true self in a flawed world.
Something that has always been inspiring and remarkable about Kento is the way he expresses himself through his craft. Throughout the years of his career, his solos have evolved as he challenged himself each time to outdo himself.

โI wanted to reveal a new side of myself to my fans. Writing โPicaresque,โ I drew from the picaresque novels popular in 16th and 17th-century Europe. The idea of a โrogueโ contains layers of meaning, and through this video, I wanted to show a journey of struggle, self-discovery, and finding oneโs true self. The two days of filming were intense but worth every moment (laughs). As we approach the end of 2024, I hope to take my fans on this adventure with โPicaresque.โโ
From sparkling, bright pop-idol songs like “Kare Kano!!” (ใซใฌใซใ๏ผ๏ผ), emotionally heart-wrenching ballads like “Forever L,” to more abstract artistic interpretations like “Because of Ai” (Because of ๆ)โKento has touched it all and fine-tuned his vision and narrative.
