timelesz Releases Emotional Single ‘because’: Sincere Gratitude

timelesz—Fuma Kikuchi, Shori Sato, and So Matsushima—is poised to release their deeply personal single, “because,” on November 20, and the first glimpse of its music video premiered on October 29 on their official YouTube channel.

This single is a unique ode not only to love but to the fans and supporters who’ve been there through every step of their journey. It also marks their first and final single release as a trio.

The group, soon to be four again after the timelesz audition project is over, poured their hearts into “because,” blending melancholic lyrics with a soft yet uplifting melody to create a song that reflects their appreciation and affection for everyone who has stood by them.

“because” serves as the theme song for the TV Asahi Saturday drama series “Why We Fall in Love” (私たちが恋する理由; Watashitachi ga Koisuru Riyuu) starring Fuma. The song’s lyrics beautifully capture the hesitant emotions of the show’s characters, who are afraid to take those first steps into love. Beyond this, “because” is also an expression of the members’ gratitude and affection for fans and supporters. Set to a gently poignant melody, it’s a love song that reaches out in tenderness.

This single represents a milestone for timelesz, as it is a collaborative creation from all three members, each bringing unique elements to the piece. Each member took on an essential role in this production, adding a personal touch to the single that makes it especially moving.

After a heartfelt group discussion, Fuma took charge of writing the lyrics, pouring these emotions and reflections into words that resonate with listeners. With lyrics like, “No matter the night, I can make it through
Because
you’re here with me now,
nodding as you look away with a small smile.
Just that alone gave me the courage to take a step forward,”
the song dives into the emotions such as vulnerability, gratitude, and trust. Something that you only gain as you build bonds that last forever.

Throughout the years, Fuma has been actively participating in the lyrics writing in their releases, and especially his own solo songs. “because” is reminiscent of both “…more” and “My Lovin’ Season,” making the lyrics a mix of both. His brilliant word sense and ability to convey emotions through words shine through the song. He brings you along on a journey with his storytelling through his lyrics, and “because” is another masterpiece in his books.

Along with KANU, So-chan then crafted choreography that visualizes the song’s themes. One memorable detail is the closing hand sign, translating to “because” in sign language, a subtle and powerful gesture that reflects both the song’s title, and symbolizes “reason.” As the group’s most prominent dancer, his skills and passion are showcased through this inclusion in the song. It’s a choreography that highlights the three of them and the bond they have between each other because it’s them.

Shori oversaw the production and direction of the music video made by Hidenobu Tanabe, capturing a natural yet profound portrait of the trio’s bond and inner lives as they explore Tokyo together. With the launch of his solo project channel, “All About Sato Shori,” which showcases his production abilities and passion for this craft, the involvement in “because” makes sense.

Filmed entirely on location in Tokyo, the MV highlights the trio’s genuine connection, as the soft, natural expressions and close-up moments evoke their “now,” showing timelesz as they are.

The music video promises to be a delicate yet raw reflection of timelesz’s bond, a cinematic expression of the beauty they find in simplicity and the bittersweet emotions of love, wrapped in a documentary-style narrative that allows fans to experience Tokyo alongside them. The story follows the members in their natural element, walking the streets of Tokyo and sharing quiet moments that reflect their evolving journey.

“I want you to always be by my side, forever.
I’ll wipe away your tear-filled eyes.
Through any night, I’ll hold your hand.
Let’s go.”

Fuma’s raw and resonating vocals soar through the song, capturing listeners’ attention with every note, and his unique vocal color paints the melody like a canvas of vivid colors, bringing depth and emotion to the overall experience. His vocals have always been a centerpiece of attraction in every song and “because” is no exception. There are not enough words to explain the way that Fuma’s voice can bring you to tears and smile at the same time, all while embarking on a journey through the tales his voice sings.

So-chan and Shori complement each other perfectly, creating a harmonious blend that enhances the dynamic nature of the track. Even though Fuma is mostly carrying the song with his powerful vocals, it never sounds like it’s a solo endeavor featuring the other two; instead, it feels like a well-balanced collaboration that celebrates each artist’s strengths.

It’s because it’s the three of them, each contributing their distinct flair and energy, that the song resonates so powerfully with listeners. The bond they have makes this song possible, as it’s not just about individual performance but rather a collective journey of sound and emotion.

They’re not riding on each other to advance; rather, they’re riding together, navigating the musical landscape as one, sharing a unified vision that leaves a lasting impact on everyone who hears it.

“because” is not just a music video but a celebration of the trio’s shared dreams, experiences, and lasting gratitude. For fans and newcomers alike, “because” is a musical and visual masterpiece that embodies timelesz’s journey as they open their hearts and share their sincerest emotions with the world.
