Kento Nakajima Releases Music Video for ‘迷夢’

Kento Nakajima has released the music video for his song “迷夢” (Meimu; Illusion), featured on the regular edition of his debut solo album, N / bias (Non-Bias), which launched on December 25, 2024.

“迷夢” stands out as a poignant track crafted during the final stages of the album’s production. Written and composed by Kento himself, the song captures a delicate balance of loss and hope. Through its hauntingly beautiful melody, it reflects the artist’s exploration of three distinct facets of his identity, portraying the fragility of life and the faint light that urges us forward into the unknown.

The music video, directed by up-and-coming filmmaker YERD, marks their second collaboration with Kento, following the visually striking “ヒトゴト feat. Kento Nakajima.” Set in a dreamlike forest, the video takes viewers on a surreal journey, blending the enigmatic silhouettes that haunt Kento’s path with breathtaking imagery of a dreamscape where he searches for answers.

Commenting on the song, Kento shared:

“‘迷夢’ is a song that expresses my current self through lyrics and music. Please take a moment to experience it.”

From its opening notes, “迷夢” pulls listeners into a fog-laden maze of memories and emotions, much like the forest in the MV takes place. The instrumentation, soft yet persistent, mirrors the sensation of sifting through fleeting recollections, while the subtle use of autotune and a rhythmic undercurrent evoke a sense of being gently guided through a labyrinth of longing.

The vocal performance is introspective and tender, as Kento’s delivery captures the fragile act of revisiting old memories—both painful and cherished. It’s not a journey of resolution but one of acceptance, embracing the ephemeral nature of dreams and the indelible marks they leave behind.

Each phrase is delivered with a tenderness that mirrors the vulnerability of revisiting old memories. It’s like a hand brushing against an old photograph, careful not to disturb the fragile essence of what remains. As if it would disappear the moment you touch it. The emotional weight behind the vocals suggests a journey not of recovery, but acceptance—the realization that some answers are best left to dissolve with time.

The music video highlights the artistry that Kento is trying to bring to life, combining his acting with his undeniable charm as an artist, turning “迷夢” into an intriguing story. More than just a music video, Kento turns into another chapter in his craft.

The regular edition of N / bias features “迷夢” alongside other tracks that showcase Kento’s artistic evolution. While the album explores themes of hope and renewal following personal loss, it also reflects his determination to break free from preconceived notions and forge a new identity as a solo artist.

For fans eager to delve deeper, limited editions A and B include exclusive tracks “Heartbeats” (representing “light”) and “Nocturne” (representing “night”), respectively, each offering a unique perspective on the album’s overarching themes.

Whether you’ve followed Kento Nakajima’s journey from the beginning or are discovering his music for the first time, the release of “迷夢” invites listeners to lose themselves in its evocative soundscape and reflective message—a perfect embodiment of the dreams and emotions that linger in the heart.
