✨Mystery solved: Kento Nakajima is the artist behind that catchy new anime opening!✨
The smooth-talking, nationwide idol-prince is now officially lending his voice to “MONTAGE,” the opening theme for the new Fuji TV anime “Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de” (The After-Dinner Mysteries), which premiered April 4, 2025.
This marks Kenty’s first solo contribution to an anime—a milestone moment for the singer-actor, and a thrilling crossover for fans of both music and mystery.
The beloved mystery novel of the same name by Tokuya Higashigawa—which has already been adapted into a manga, TV drama, film, and stage play—is finally making its grand debut as a TV anime!
The anime takes place in Tokyo’s Kunitachi City and features a rich cast of quirky characters.
Reiko Hōshō is a rookie detective at the Kunitachi Police Department… and also the privileged daughter of the world-famous Hōshō Group. Under the flashy and often clueless Inspector Kazamatsuri—heir to Kazamatsuri Motors—Reiko throws herself into solving all kinds of bizarre cases.
But when she returns to her mansion, trading her plain pantsuit for an elegant dress and a refined dinner, there’s one person she always turns to when cases get too complicated: her “butler-slash-chauffeur,” Kageyama.
“Are your eyes made of glass, milady?”
With biting sarcasm that borders on outright insult, Kageyama never hesitates to call out Reiko’s questionable deductions—only to then unravel the mystery himself with razor-sharp logic.
This fan-favorite combo of snarky butler × heiress detective now comes to life in an animated, dazzlingly stylish new adaptation. So expect banter, brains, and beautiful animation in this twist-filled “heiress detective x savage butler” combo mystery! Let the mystery begin!
🎶 About “MONTAGE”: Clues in the Lyrics, Drama in the Sound
Until now, only the audio for the opening theme “MONTAGE” had been released, with both the artist and title kept secret. In a fitting twist, the details were “unveiled” as part of the first episode. “MONTAGE” is a thrilling, up-tempo number produced by legendary composer Hiroyuki Sawano, with lyrics co-written by Kenty and cAnON.
Kenty said he was inspired by the anime’s lead characters, especially Kageyama’s unique ability to “hurl elegant insults while cracking cases.” He explained:

“I’ve been a huge fan of the live-action drama, so being able to be involved in the anime version through music feels like a special connection.
I watched the entire anime series, and when writing the lyrics, I kept Kageyama’s character in mind—how he solves mysteries while delivering sharp-tongued remarks with a touch of elegance.
The title ‘MONTAGE’ comes from the idea that solving a case begins by piecing together fragmented photos and evidence from the crime scene.
This was also my first time receiving a song from Hiroyuki Sawano. During the recording, he gave me guidance, and I really tried to absorb the atmosphere and worldview of his sound into my performance. It was a truly valuable experience.
I hope everyone enjoys both the anime and the music.”
When elegance meets enigma, and music meets mystery—”MONTAGE” is born.
The track is more than an anime opening theme—it’s an immersive sonic entryway into the world of “Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de.”
This high-style, high-stakes mystery pairs perfectly with Kenty’s smooth, breathy vocals—delivering both polish and intrigue. Fans describe his voice as sweet yet nuanced, refined with a hint of suspense, and impossible to skip. It adds to his growing discography of bangers, and paired with the legendary Hiroyuki Sawano, “MONTAGE” is truly another masterpiece in the music world. His vocal tone captures the duality of the main characters: class and chaos, wit and warmth.
The song’s lyrics—cleverly woven with words and phrases from the original story—build a “musical puzzle,” a sonic metaphor for the very cases our characters are trying to solve. The title,” MONTAGE,” reflects this—snapshots of clues, pieced together, to reveal a bigger picture.
Kenty beautifully weaves Japanese and English in the song and further utilizes his skill as a global entertainer. “MONTAGE” is another addition to his songs tying to mystery, “THE CODE” and “迷夢” being two other among others.
Even though this is Kenty’s first solo anime theme (previous tie-up to anime was through Fatal by GEMN for Oshi no Ko), fans are already calling it a perfect match, an unexpected dream collaboration, and the anime opening of the year. Sawano’s cinematic soundscape, layered with Kenty’s expressive performance, delivers an unforgettable opening that’s stylish, dramatic, and full of promise.
From the electrifying chorus to the delicate closing line, every second invites you deeper into the mystery.
Whether you’re stepping into the story or the music for the first time, or returning as a longtime fan, “MONTAGE” is your first clue that this isn’t just another case—it’s an experience.
Both the non-credit OP and ED animations are now streaming on Fuji TV’s official anime YouTube channel. You can experience “MONTAGE” in all its animated glory, as well as the dramatic ending theme “Rhapsody” by BILLY BOO.
And yes, the visuals slap just as hard as the music!
Mystery fans, music lovers, and Kenty girls & boys—this one’s for you. “MONTAGE” is more than just a theme song—it’s a slick sonic prelude to a whip-smart, wonderfully absurd whodunit.
With animation by Madhouse, a stellar voice cast, and Kenty’s debut in the anime world, “Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de” is shaping up to be your next Friday night obsession.
The single is officially set for release on Wednesday, May 21!
