SixTONES‘ member Yugo Kochi will play the lead role in the stage play “Aru Hi, Aru Toki, Nai Otoko” which will start at The Globe Tokyo in August, followed by performances in Osaka and Fukuoka. It’s Yugo‘s second leading role in a play after last year’s play “Come Blow Your Horn”, which you can read the stage report written by Dumpling Box here.
This work is the original story of Masafumi Nishida, who has written and directed many works in all genres, including the stage play “Tadashii Rock Band no Tsukuri kata Natsu” (2020), the musical “SUNNY” (2023), the drama “ISHIKO and HANEO: You’re Suing Me?” (2022), the special drama “Hissatsu Shigotonin” (2023) and the film “The Stand-In Thief” (2017).
SYNOPSIS
People can be divided into two types. Those who are blessed with good fortune, regardless of their efforts or talents, and those who are not. Ryosuke Kurumatani (played by Yugo Kochi), who is 27 years old, is earnest, kind and attentive to his friends and other people around him, he has had a string of job losses, has had the most ridiculous “mistaken identity” at part-time job interviews, and has had people he has been kind to return the favour.
Meanwhile, Ryosuke‘s friend of the same age, Naoki Doki, a self-proclaimed musician, is a dame who doesn’t even put on a good show, while being supported by his big fan and girlfriend Tamayo. The two contrasting but kindred spirits hang out together.
Then, a new shopping mall opens in the town where Ryosuke and his friends live. The opening event is said to include a show by a popular magician.
It’s a special day in their stagnant daily lives. The wheels of fate begin to turn for Ryosuke and the people he is connected to by an invisible bond.

In playing the role of the unlucky man, I honestly had the impression that I was the complete opposite, as my life has been more of a life where luck has been on my side. The content of this play is very interesting and I laughed out loud while reading the script!
The hero is a negative person with negative emotions and negative thoughts, but he has a very pure heart and his goodness saves people without them knowing it. I felt that he is a hero who doesn’t realise or follow (lol)!
I think this work is just a story that has a lot of story development and can give you a sense of suspense, excitement, friendship and emotion !! I’m really looking forward to the stage rehearsals!
