King & Prince‘ Kaito Takahashi and SixTONES‘ Hokuto Matsumura have been appointed as ambassadors of Marugame Udonuts, to present the new spring products of the udon noodle specialty restaurant Marugame Seimen: “Strawberry milk flavour“, “Kinako flavour” and “Mitarashi flavour“, for a limited sale time from April 15th. Along with this, the new TV commercial in which Takahashi and Matsumura appear together for the first time, Marugame Seimen‘s spring trailer for “Kaito and Hokuto’s Perfect Day for Udonatsu” will air from April 10th, and “Kaito and Hokuto‘s First Udonuts” will air nationwide (excluding some areas) from the 15th.
Taking advantage of the close friendship between the two in their private lives, their great chemistry and the trust they have in each other that is palpable at all times, the new commercial has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, as it shows the two enjoying Marugame Udonuts for the first time in a Marugame Seinen restaurant, where they are seen entering in cheerful mood meanwhile both pronounce the commercial’s slogan: 「ホクトとカイトのうどーなつ日和」/ “A perfect day for Hokuto and Kaito’s udon and summer snacks“.
The shooting took place last March in a Marugame Seimen restaurant. After tasting the strawberry milk flavour, both Takahashi and Matsumura exclaimed surprised: “Delicious!” and were so engrossed that forgot they were filming and ate several pieces.
About co-starring the commercial with Matsumura, Takahashi said: “It was a fun opportunity to appear alongside him, I’m very happy! As I said before, I think it might be the first and the last time (laughs)”. Matsumura added: “Once this was decided, I had a lot to talk to Kaito about right away“.

―― What was it like shooting this TV commercial? Also, tell us how you felt when you discovered that Marugame Udonuts are made from udon noodles.
Takahashi : This is the first time I’ve appeared in a Marugame Seimen TV commercial and I’m Hokuto Kun’s really close friend!
Matsumura: He doesn’t normally call me Hokuto-kun (laughs).
Takahashi: I call him Hokuti. It was a really fun opportunity for me to appear together, I’m really happy. But I think this will be the first and last time (laughs).
Matsumura: A pair like this is pretty rare!

Takahashi: That’s right. We are both in different groups, so I was very happy to be able to shoot together despite the limits. As for Marugame Udonuts, we had the chance to try one during the photoshoot at Marugame Seimen, so I was very surprised to discover that there were such soft and chewy doughnuts. They are easy to eat and we offered them to some kids who came to the shop; the whole family seemed happy eating them, which I thought was great; it’s fantastic that an udon restaurant serves doughnuts.
Matsumura: I used to come here a lot when I was student, and when I think of Marugame Seimen, I think of udon, so when heard the name “Marugame Udonuts” I was really intrigued. I wonder what it’s like. Once this plot was decided I had many conversations with Kaito.
―― This was the first time you tried our new product, “Marugame Udon strawberry milk flavour“. What were your impressions after eating it?
Takahashi: It was like having real strawberries on top. It had a bit of white dashi, and the balance with the sweetness of the strawberry milk was tremendous, It was delicious!

Matsumura: The mochi texture and the dipping sauce, I really enjoyed it, the sweet and sour taste of the dipping sauce, which has both a very fresh taste and a unique sweetness. Above all, I thought it was very spring-like.
Takahashi: Dipping is something I’ve never done before, and the act of dipping is exciting in itself. The taste doesn’t betray expectations, and I think that if people realise the impact of a doughnut made from udon in the first place, they will become more and more addicted to it. So I’d be happy if this TV commercial can spread the word to people who have seen it.
――The concept of Marugame Udonuts in 2025 is “Expanding the ways to enjoy Udonuts in spring”! It is a product befitting spring, a time of new encounters and excitement. Tell us if there is something you are looking forward to this spring.
Takahashi: What I look forward to in spring, yes. I like warm weather, so even though it’s a bit early, I’d like to go to the beach or to the mountains, get in touch with nature, take Marugame Udonuts with me and eat it like a picnic!
Matsumura: Well, I think that once winter is over and the weather gets warmer, people change their clothes and start thinking about going outside, so I think it would be nice to take Marugame Udonuts for a walk or a drive or something!
Takahashi: Let’s go! Let’s take it with us! Let’s go for a walk!


―― Finally, what would you like to say to Marugame’s customers?
Takahashi: I am very happy to appear in a TV commercial for Marugame Seimen, a company that has been a part of me since I was a student. I’m sure there are already many fana, but I was impressed by Marugame Seimen‘s attitude of constantly introducing new products and not letting anyone get tired of them. I hope that all fans will have many more opportunities to enjoy eating udon in the future with peace of mind. In any case, Marugame Udonut with “Strawberry Milk Flavour” is infinitely delicious, so please try it once!
Matsumura: I also had a chance to try the “Marugame Udonut Ichigo Milk Flavour” during the filming, but not only the it, but also the “Kinako Flavour“, “Mitarashi Flavour” and the standard “Millet Sugar Flavour” all of them are delicious! The “Strawberry Milk” flavour was featured this time, but all the different flavours are delicious, so whether you’ve already had Marugame Udonuts or not, please take this opportunity to enjoy all four types of Marugame Udonuts!
At the event, as the two of them presented the new product on stage together, they also let us in on little glimpses of their private relationship that has remained untouched over the years.
For Kaito Takahashi, Hokuto Matsumura is “like an older brother“.
The two boys appeared at the event dressed in pink outfits and Matsumura commented: “This is probably the first time in my life that the two of us have appeared at an event together, so I’m sorry, it’s selfish of me, but I’m a bit nervous“.
When they were asked about their first collaboration in a commercial, Takahashi revealed his relationship with Matsumura, saying: “Even in private, I adore him as brother and a friend” and “We are so close that we often hung out in each other’s houses“, and added: “I was so happy to be able to work with him, and as an ambassador“.
Hokuto Matsumura felt that “It was relaxing to be able to work with Kai, who I always feel comfortable with“.
Matsumura continued: “I just let him go, but actually, I would go to Kai’s house or we would go to restaurants and Kai would say, “Let’s go here”, so it was more like I was following him“. Regarding the commercial, he commented: “At first, he suddenly started following me from behind” and recalled the filming: “It was relaxing to be able to work with Kai, who I always feel comfortable with, but it was still a new experience“.
