Little High, Little Low! Hello I’m Yuuki and I’m (mostly) a Junior fan. I’m currently a Psychology major who would later want to focus most on Guidance Counselling. I was part of my high school’s journalist club as a writer, and I was also a former writer at Chingu To The World — a K-pop news site.
I do a lot of stuff like graphic designing, baking, video editing, talking about my kids (read: STARTO Juniors) nearly 24/7, working with/for idols, and doing local fan events. Overall, I’m a jack of all trades if its for idols.
I’ve been mostly a J-drama as a kid. My mom used to buy those DVDs that she would watch at home and as a kid who barely goes outside, I watch it with her and basically fell in love with every cute guy existing in every series. My most watched dramas were Gokusen and Hana Kimi, and the amount of times I watched those series would be the same amount of my age or even more.
From watching J-drama it was basically my introduction to STARTO talents specifically NEWS and Hey! Say! JUMP. My fangirl life began there and expanded there onwards. I moved from one fandom to another, exploring all music types and genres in all languages there is, but eventually finding my joy in JPOP the most — especially with STARTO talents. There were always my pick-me-up in every time and my comfort place.
I was mostly a come-and-go kind of fan. Mostly watching whenever I feel sad or needing something to keep my mind pre-occupied. Due to this I met the juniors in too many separate occasions like with groups in Bad Boy J in 2014, HiHi Jets in late 2018 after my attempt to catch up with SixTONES and Snow Man; up to finally — FINALLY — decided to settle down on my comfort place through Naniwa Danshi, thanks to Kieta Hatsukoi in 2021. Onwards, I enjoyed focusing on the juniors the most and learning about everyone, even the ones without units.
My fandom friends joke around saying that I am a mother of an orphanage with the amount of kids I support. Despite being in the same age range as HiHi Jets, I still refer to every juniors as my “kids”. There’s something about seeing someone grow, see how much improvement on skills and confidence they gained, and how they slowly garner attention and appreciation from people around them. It is the process that makes someone a true idol that is the most enjoyable and heart-warming for me that I couldn’t help but watch over them and be proud of everything they do.
Through Dumpling Box, I want to promote my kids more as I’d do anything and everything just to for them so that there would be more people to appreciate their talents and skills, and that even no matter what path they decide to take, they wouldn’t feel alone and would still feel that there are fans who would support them unconditionally.
Just like my pen name, I want to be as courageous as those juniors I watch over and grow as a person I could be proud of. As I am still a shy person and sentimental person who worries a lot, I’ll try my best to one day probably publish an article with my name properly.
I mainly speak in Filipino and English. Mildly fluent in Korean and currently learning Japanese. I have too many mains to mentions so I wouldn’t list them as this has been longer than I expected it to be. Other than STARTO groups, I also a fan of other J-pop groups like IMP, JO1, INI, Lil League and 7order. I also am a fan of K-pop groups Seventeen, Stray Kids, Xikers and soloist IU; C-pop soloist Huang Kun and Hebe Tien; and P-pop group AJAA.
