The event was directed by Jun Matsumoto (ARASHI) and Tadayoshi Ohkura (SUPER EIGHT) and marked the first big intergroup under the name STARTO ENTERTAINMENT.

STARTO ENTERTAINMENT has always been dedicated to bringing together an incredible lineup of talented individuals who pour their heart and soul into their craft. With the new year beginning in April, the anticipation for the three Dome shows hosted by STARTO ENTERTAINMENT was apparent. These shows are not just events; they are gatherings of like-minded individuals who have offered their steadfast support to these talented artists over the years. It’s a moment for everyone – artists, staff, and fans, to come together and celebrate the craft and legacy that has touched and inspired countless lives.

The atmosphere will undoubtedly be an unforgettable experience as the hardworking and inspiring talents of STARTO ENTERTAINMENT converge, ready to shine bright and create an unforgettable new STARTO.

Not all that glitters are sequins

The first group out to perform for the concert was Hey! Say! JUMP with their love ballad “White Love.” This heartfelt ballad has been a hit among both fans and a favorite for fellow talents to perform ever since its release in 2017. Dressed in white suits, the 8-member group sparkled brightly on the stage and was a great opening act, showcasing the image of what we perceive the usual “idol” to look like.

koi-wazurai followed suit with its upbeat and energizing tune, and despite standing on the wide stage alone, King & Prince’s Kaito Takahashi performed brilliantly, thanked everyone, and wished everyone to enjoy it to their fullest to the very end (fellow member Ren Nagase was absent due to an ear injury). He was warmly greeted by the sight of a whole dome of his member colored—yellow—penlights as fans of King & Prince and other groups alike came together to show their unified support.

Naniwa Danshi sang their upbeat and addicting song “Poppin’ Hoppin’ Lovin’,” following the theme of classically idol-sounding songs. It’s evident why the group is so beloved all over the nation: Their energy is rivaled by none!

As if the mood in the dome wasn’t energized or hyped up enough, Travis Japan performed their debut song “JUST DANCE!” accompanied by technicolor on the floor, befitting the message of “Just Dance Together!

Each group performed a signature song of theirs, one after another, utilizing the different stages in the dome. On brand, SixTONES stood out from the rest and appeared from the benches, and the audience’s excitement went up another notch as they performed “Kokkara.” Every time SixTONES performs, they manage to turn the whole venue into a club, and fan or not, you can’t help but rock out along with the boys.

One highlight of NEWS singing their hit song “Chankapaana” from 2013 is witnessing when Takahisa Masuda sings the famous long high note. Every time he sings it, it gets longer and stronger, almost as if he’s trying to set a new record every time.

Heralding a new era

Before the groups started to gather together to perform songs as a collaboration, Ae! group, who made their CD debut on May 15th, got a grand introduction through a VTR showcasing each member before they took the stage and performed their debut song “《A》 BEGINNING. Being the first group to debut under STARTO ENTERTAINMENT, Ae! group set the bar high for the future.

“《A》 BEGINNING” is a statement song that perfectly showcases the group’s essence, highlighting its strengths. A statement of their unyielding determination and urge to constantly move forward, no matter how hard and tough it might seem. Not to mention member Seiya Suezawa’s unrivaled high-tone vocals.

While technical skills can be refined over time, Seiya’s innate talent remains unmatched. The heights that his vocals can take him and Ae! group seem limitless, a point underscored by “《A》BEGINNING.” As you listen to him sing, you will undoubtedly feel “thank you for staying, thank you for not quitting,” because when Seiya performs, you feel the PRIDE in his artistry and from his fellow members.

It’s truly just the beginning for Ae! group.

Everlasting bonds

If you gather WEST., Naniwa Danshi, and the Ae! group at the same place, there’s only one thing you can expect: Chaos. These groups have a lot of history together, and performing together is nothing new either. The strong bonds they share as fellow talents from the Kansai family of the agency are obvious, and it truly makes you smile at how much they support and adore each other.

The synergy that arises from their collaborations is such a joy to witness, as they bring out the best in each other, elevating their performances to new heights. Their combined energy on stage is infectious, and the fans can’t help but laugh and smile at the antics going on. It’s truly a sight to behold, witnessing their passion and camaraderie translate into a mesmerizing spectacle that means so much, not only to the talents themselves but to all their loyal fans too.

Another collaborative triangle of groups with history together were Travis Japan, Kis-My-Ft2, and KAT-TUN. The youngest group out of them—Travis Japan—opened their segment with their intense dance-heavy song “LEVEL UP,” illuminating one of the side stages as they gave it their all.

The addicting tunes of the song resonated through the dome and the part “Watch me level up
Play you like a game boy
” ignited the audience and those who were unfamiliar with Travis Japan before the concert got hooked immediately.

Member Genta Matsuda took the chance in his white outfit and flashed his toned stomach for a quick second. Blink, and you miss it!

(Author Sabina certainly did not miss it)

The interaction between Travis Japan and Kis-My-Ft2 is endearing, given the shared history of Travis Japan being back dancers for the older group and knowing that Kento Senga also has been an active role in Travis Japan’s growth, having choreographed songs like “Love Tag” and “Talk it! Make it!” also designed outfits for them.

Seeing the two groups rock out to the iconic “FIRE BEAT,” heads swinging in tune with the music, made you feel their incredible bond and respect for each other.

Kis-My-Ft2, in turn, have been back dancers for KAT-TUN in their earlier days, and seeing the three groups perform classic hit songs like “DON’T U EVER STOP” and “LIPS” together really perfected this triangle.

timelesz gracefully took the stage as three, performing a fan favorite, “Gyutto,” making sure that they took hold of everyone’s hearts tightly as they sang before they went into “Jinsei Yuugi,” the theme song for the drama “Zeicho: ‘Haraenai’ ni wa Wake ga Aru,“ starring member Fuma Kikuchi as the leading role.

The composition features a vibrant melody and a profound message, encouraging perseverance and advancement. Fuma has once again blessed the world with his knack for words by writing the rap lyrics for the song, infusing a personal flair into the overall composition. The lyrics harmonize with the lively tempo, creating a captivating and engaging tune. It is a song that makes you want to start running, like a cheering song.

Symbiosis

If the eyes were not wet enough, they surely were as NEWS performed “U R not alone,” in their eye-catching orange outfit with their group name written all over it, with the emotional vocals resonating through the dome.

Once again, Takahisa Masuda is absolutely mesmerizing as he performs with his whole body and soul. The call-and-response from the audience echoed loudly and enthusiastically, and it was absolutely magical listening to the fans sing along. NEWS is truly adored and highly regarded by everyone, but their passionate, dedicated, and loyal fans can always be heard on-site and online. The sight of multi-colored penlights waving in synch around the group and the spotlights on them on the center stage is a statement of that and a view you etch into your memory forever.

A.B.C-Z is known for their infectious energy and unwavering passion for performance. With their vibrant stage presence and outstanding vocal abilities, watching them sing “Ganbare, Tomoyo!” is undeniably uplifting. Their dedication to their craft is evident in every note, and their commitment to delivering top-notch entertainment is truly commendable.

As part of the esteemed STARTO lineup, they embody the spirit of excellence and never fail to leave a lasting impression on their audience. Whether it’s through their powerful vocals, captivating choreography, or engaging interactions with the crowd, A.B.C-Z consistently delivers memorable and impactful performances that resonate with fans long after the concert lights dim. You get to be transported into a world of musical enchantment and pure joy, because when A.B.C-Z takes the stage, an unforgettable experience is guaranteed.

“Limit” is just a word

Hey! Say! JUMP started the concert with their classical idol side, but with their more dance-heavy number, “BANGER NIGHT,” they show that they are not losing to the newer debuted groups in terms of performances.

The group’s ability to seamlessly transition from traditional idol performances to more upbeat numbers in line with the global trends truly captivates their audience, demonstrating their versatility and adaptability.

Over the years, Hey! Say! JUMP has solidified their position as trailblazers in the idol industry, not only for their fans but also serving as an inspiration to many aspiring fellow talents from the agency and setting a high standard for performance excellence. Their influence extends beyond the stage, as they continue to engage with their fanbase and contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of J-pop.

To many, Hey! Say! JUMP is one of the groups that have paved the way for the current lineup of idols, leaving an indelible mark on the industry and shaping the trajectory of idol music for years to come.

With more than 15 years of experience as a debuted group, they have challenged and overcome various genres and difficulties, proving that you don’t have to stay within the frame of what a “traditional idol” is. There’s not a lot that Hey! Say! JUMP haven’t tried, and they’re far from done on stage.

During the Kyocera Dome performances and livestream, Ren Nagase from King & Prince was absent due to an injury. As a surprise, Travis Japan’s Genta Matsuda was invited up on stage with Kaito Takahashi to perform the song “moooove!!together, charming everyone watching. The livestream archive uploaded a separate performance for King & Prince’snanimono” and “koi-wazurai” from the April 10th Tokyo Dome show.

Throwing their prince-like sparkling idol aura away, Naniwa Danshi made an illuminating return to the stage with “The Answer.” This darker and alluring performance highlights the group’s wide range, and it’s more than refreshing to see them command the stage in a more mature way.

The choreography, filled with intricate and powerful movements, complements the song’s intensity, captivating the audience with a mysterious aura. Shunsuke Michieda immediately caught everyone’s attention in a single second with his “そう真実は一つ” (That’s right, there’s only one truth) line. The group’s stage presence exudes confidence and charisma, drawing the crowd into their mesmerizing performance. Kazuya Ohashi’s impressive and smooth vocals resonate through the dome as he easily hits the high notes. The depth and emotion in their delivery leave a lasting impression, establishing Naniwa Danshi as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

More than just a concert

SixTONES has made a name for themselves as a dynamic and norm-defying group, and their impact on the stage is undeniable. “ABARERO” took the energy to a whole new level, creating an atmosphere that blurred the line between a traditional concert and an all-out club experience.

The audience couldn’t help but be swept up in the fervor, transforming the dome into a pulsating hub of music and movement. It’s not just a performance; it’s an immersive journey where the audience becomes an integral part of the show, syncing their movements with the infectious rhythms and embracing the exhilarating workout of waving penlights in unison.

The fusion of high-octane music and the group’s magnetic stage presence ensures that every SixTONES performance is an adrenaline-pumping experience to remember.

SixTONES leaves no stone unturned every time they are on stage, and this time is no exception. Fans and fans of other groups alike can’t help but lose themselves in the groove that is unique to SixTONES and the sea of penlights feverously waving is stunning to watch as they lose control to the tunes of “WHIP THAT.

From one party to another, Snow Man brought out the addicting hits “Dangerholic,” “Hello Hello,” and “W,” all songs that represent a drama or movie that a member starred in. The contrast between the happy upbeat melodies of “Hello Hello” and the driven and more gritty sound of “W” showcased just why the group is so loved throughout Japan and the world.

Overflowing gratitude

Next up was WEST. and SUPER EIGHT, both groups celebrating their respective 10th and 20th anniversaries, and WEST. performed “Something New” and “Heart” with SUPER EIGHT, accompanying them by playing the live band, showcasing the strong bonds of “Kansai” through the intense band session.

If there’s anything that WEST. always manages to do, it is bring a smile to whoever is watching and listening. Their 10 years together are evident, and their vocal prowess is solid and captivating. The chemistry between the members is palpable, and their stage presence is electrifying, especially with Daiki Shigeoka on the loose.

It’s clear that they have honed their craft over the years, delivering performances that leave a lasting impact on their audience. The gratitude they feel for their fans and audience is heartwarming. With each note, they effortlessly convey their passion for music, creating an unforgettable experience for all who witness their entertainment.

SUPER EIGHT energized the crowd with Kansai staple songs like “Zukkoke Otokomichi” and “Katte ni Shiagare” before all groups gathered on stage for the last leg of the concert, where they sang a few songs together.

Towards the end of the over two-hour concert, words of gratitude echoed in the dome, starting with KAT-TUN’s Kazuya Kamenashi as he encouraged the audience with his words, “I hope you enjoyed your time with us,” while Kis-My-Ft2’s Yuta Tamamori expressed, “I hope our current performances convey our feelings.

In the same manner, WEST.’s Daiki Shigeoka promised, “We will continue to do our best to deliver our utmost performances,” and timelesz’ Fuma Kikuchi expressed his hopes, “Let’s continue to see many wonderful sights together.”

SUPER EIGHT’s Tadayoshi Ohkura thanked the fans, saying, “We want to sing this song with gratitude to everyone who always supports us,” and introduced the song “WE ARE,” which all of the participating groups in the concert took part in.

Ending the concert with “WE ARE” is more than just the groups gathering together to sing. It’s a statement and a promise: As long as we, the fans, are here, they will be here. As long as they are here, we will also be here. It’s a beautiful symbiosis reflected in the lyrics of the song, too. To a new tomorrow. Together, because WE’RE ALIVE.

To a new tomorrow

Seeing the groups interact with each other, like a playground with no boundaries left, is magical. Despite entering the industry at different times and debuting at different times, they have kept their friendships and bonds with each other. As friends and rivals alike, they encourage each other to push forward and always aim higher.

Just like fans get the chance to see their beloved favorite on stage during concerts like this, the talents also get the opportunity to perform together with their respected seniors and friends, which they usually don’t get to do.

Their genuine smiles and happiness are evident, and that joy spreads throughout the audience as well; it is what creates this unique magical moment between fans and talents. It’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and while experiencing it in person differs from viewing it through a screen, the magic doesn’t disappear.

With traditions being that you can only truly experience the entertainment that STARTO talents in person, the livestreams allow more people globally to participate and taste a little of the magic. It crosses the boundaries of countries and languages and becomes a borderless entertainment for anyone to enjoy.

To be able to witness the beginning of STARTO ENTERTAINMENT on a grand scale like this is an honor, and it only strengthens the love that we already hold for our beloved groups.
