Discover the Charming Narita Siblings in Uchi no Otouto Domo ga Sumimasen

Excitement is in the air as actress Mei Hata steps into her first leading role in the highly anticipated film “Uchi no Otouto Domo ga Sumimasen” (Sorry About My Brothers), set to premiere on December 6. This live-action adaptation of Akira Ozaki’s beloved shojo manga, which has sold over 2.3 million copies, features an impressive cast including Ryuto Sakuma from HiHi Jets, Yuto Nasu from Bishonen, Nao Oriyama from Shonen Ninja, and 10-year-old Kirato Uchida in his film debut.

The story revolves around Ito, a high school girl who dreams of a peaceful life with her beloved mother and new stepfather. Her world is turned upside down when she unexpectedly finds herself living with four incredibly handsome but quirky stepbrothers. Despite the initial shock and confusion, Ito, as the eldest sibling, works hard to support the Narita family, navigating her way through this new and challenging family dynamic.

Despite her initial confusion, Ito works hard to support the Narita family. She is helped by her composed and mature brother Raku, and the friendly and affectionate Rui. Meanwhile, she slowly starts to bond with the reclusive Shu and the brusque yet caring Gen. As she gets to know her new brothers, Ito starts to develop special feelings, leading to heartwarming and unexpected twists in their lives.

Mei’s portrayal of Ito, a determined high school girl suddenly thrust into the role of the eldest sister, promises to bring warmth and charm to the screen. The four brothers, portrayed by the talented boys from STARTO ENTERTAINMENT, create a dream team ensemble.

Ryuto plays the gruff yet family-oriented eldest brother Gen, going so far as to dye his virgin hair for the role. Yuto, known for his intelligence and strategic mind, takes on the role of the second brother Raku. Nao, with his mysterious and delicate aura, embodies the third brother Shu, while Kirato, the youngest and most adorable of the bunch, plays the doting Rui.

Mei, reflecting on her role, shared, “I’m nervous about my first leading role, but I hope to create a film that overflows with warmth and kindness. Though I’m the youngest of five siblings in real life, Ito’s determination to protect her family really stood out to me. I’m thrilled to work with my co-stars and make a beautiful coming-of-age film together.

Joining Mei, Ryuto takes on the role of Gen Narita, the gruff yet family-oriented eldest brother. Embracing his character, Ryuto remarked, “When I was cast, I was excited to finally play a high school role in a shojo manga adaptation. Although dyeing my hair and getting piercings felt strange, it helped me get into character. Like Gen, I’m the eldest brother, so I resonated with his mindset. I look forward to working with this great team and completing the project in good health.

Yuto, portraying the intelligent and strategic second brother Raku, expressed his enthusiasm: “I’ve always wanted to be in a rom-com, so I’m thrilled about this role. It’s comforting to work with Sakuma and my peer Oriyama. I based Raku’s character on my real-life younger brother. I’m excited to see how our dynamic evolves and hope the film brings warmth and joy to the audience.

Nao, embodying the mysterious and delicate third brother Shu, shared his initial nerves and growing excitement: “Being my first film, I was nervous, but communicating with the director and cast made me excited. Shu’s character resonates with a younger version of myself, making it easier to get into the role. I hope to portray a great younger brother and have fun filming.

The youngest of the group, Kirato, who plays the adorable and doting Rui, expressed his joy and admiration for his co-stars: “I was overjoyed when I got the role. Sakuma is great at roller skating and even bought me ice cream. Nasu was happy when I gave him concert feedback, and Oriyama’s dancing is impressive. I’m similar to Rui in being clumsy, so I’ll play that naturally. It’s my first film, and I’ll work hard with my seniors’ guidance.

Producer comments highlight the importance of capturing the dynamic and lively interactions among the brothers, believing that the chemistry between the close-aged actors from the same agency would bring the needed authenticity. This belief was reinforced upon seeing them together, solidifying the decision to cast them.

Akira, the original manga creator, expressed her excitement and confidence after witnessing the cast’s chemistry and lively interactions. “Seeing the Narita siblings come to life on set increased my anticipation for the film,” she shared.

The teaser visual showcases the five siblings in coordinated pink outfits, posing closely together, reflecting the title’s playful apology. Mei’s character, Ito, is seen with a bemused expression, clearly overwhelmed by her four new brothers’ strong personalities. The brothers, each with their unique expressions and poses, add to the charm, welcoming their new sister in their own quirky ways.

The special trailer gives a sneak peek into the heartwarming and sweet moments between Ito and her brothers, promising a rollercoaster of emotions and a heartwarming family story that viewers won’t want to miss.
