Osomatsu-san Live-Action Film Sets June 12 Release Date, First Stills Unveiled

A new release date has been set for the live-action film Osomatsu-san: Humanity Degeneration Project!!!!!? (おそ松さん 人類クズ化計画!!!!!?), scheduled to open on June 12.

The film is based on Fujio Akatsuka’s classic gag manga Osomatsu-kun. Alongside the announcement, new scene stills have been released featuring the “sextuplets” portrayed by Seiya Suezawa, Yoshinori Masakado, Masaya Sano, Ken Kojima of Ae! group, Keita Richard Kusama, and along with Takuya Nishimura of Kansai Junior.

With all six lead actors hailing from the Kansai region, the film promises to retain the franchise’s signature chaotic humor, infused with Kansai-born comedic sensibilities, while reimagining Osomatsu-san through a brand-new cast and creative team.

The Matsuno sextuplets—Osomatsu, Karamatsu, Choromatsu, Ichimatsu, Jyushimatsu, and Todomatsu—are over 20 years old, unemployed, freeloading off their parents, hopelessly trashy, and still virgins: truly irredeemable NEETs. Ignoring their parents’ wish for them to become “normal adults,” they continue to live their useless, degenerate daily lives as usual.

However, from one day onward, the reactions of those around them suddenly change. Their trashy behavior starts being praised, and something feels… off. Has the world finally caught up to the sextuplets!? Is that even possible!? What on earth is happening to the world!?

A group of six young individuals with black bob hairstyles peering out from a wooden balcony, wearing colorful hoodies in shades of green, pink, red, and blue. Laundry hangs above them and green foliage is visible.

The newly released stills show the six brothers—Osomatsu, Choromatsu, Karamatsu, Ichimatsu, Jyushimatsu, and Todomatsu—peering in through a window. Their bold, mischievous grins, as if they’re plotting something, give the impression that trouble is about to unfold.

In stark contrast, another image shows the sextuplets walking confidently, brimming with self-assurance. Their upright posture and serious gazes make it hard to believe these are the same carefree, trashy NEETs. Instead, they radiate unwavering conviction and confidence. What kind of fate awaits the sextuplets as their story unfolds?

Osomatsu-san has grown into a cultural phenomenon since its 2015 anime debut, expanding into films, stage adaptations, and a 2022 live-action movie starring Snow Man. With the anime celebrating its 10th anniversary and Season 4 currently airing, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down. Now, with all six leads hailing from Kansai, the new live-action film promises to deliver the series’ trademark chaos through sharp, Kansai-born comedic sensibilities—reimagined for a new era.
