From Utada Hikaru to SMAP: Takahisa Masuda reveals the tracklist for his second album “増田貴久のカバー” and Kidoairaku 2nd LIVE

The NEWS member takes a decisive step in his solo career with the release of “Masuda Takahisa no Cover“/”Cover of Takahisa Masuda“, It will be his first full-length cover album, and the track list, bonus content, and new images have been revealed at the same time. This new musical work intertwine his past with the great anthems of Japanese music.

Following the success of his first solo album, “Kidoairaku“, Massu has surprised his fans by announcing details of his eagerly awaited second studio album, the artist will release an ambitious collection of 12 songs on 8 April 2026, that cross genres and time, this album brings together Massu’s personal favorites, multi-generational anthems, and the musical legacy he hopes to pass on to the next generation.

Unlike his previous album, this new release focuses exclusively on the art of performance. Massu has meticulously selected songs that have marked his career and personal life. The album includes essential classics such as Utada Hikaru‘s “First Love“, JUJU‘s “Yasashisa de Afureru You ni“, DALI‘s “Moonlight Densetsu“, the main theme of the anime “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon”, the insert song for the movie “Aladdin,” “Friend Like Me,” and the children’s song “Niji”.

One of the highlights of the album is the tribute to their predecessors at the STARTO agency. Massu reinterprets iconic songs by legendary groups such as SMAP (“Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana“), KinKi Kids (“Bonnie Butterfly“), V6 (“Believe Your Smile“) and TOKIO (“Uwasa no Kiss“). In addition, the album includes a very special gift for fans of the duo Tegomass (His former duo with Yuya Tegoshi): a solo version of “Kiss ~Kaerimichi no Love Song~“.

Exclusive editions and premium content

The release will be divided into four formats designed to offer different experiences:

Limited Edition A:

Includes a CD/DVD or Blu-ray/DVD with “Takahisa Masuda’s Cover Live“. Surrounded by over 3,000 candles, the album includes full performances of five songs: “Yasashisa de Afureru Youni,” “Moonlight Densetsu,” “Niji,” “Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana,” and “Kiss ~Kairimichi no Love Song~.” Original live footage featuring a large orchestra is also included.

Limited Edition B:

Focused on the creative process, it contains Nekomasu‘s version of the music video for “Kidoairaku” and the make-up. The stop-motion animation, starring Massu‘s original character Nekomasu, perfectly recreates the songs in a miniature world on a 1/15 scale. It also includes a behind-the-scenes look at the cover photo shoot, in which Massu himself participated, and the “Making of Jacket Shooting,” which closely follows the entire self-styling process.

Regular Edition:

The regular edition includes the bonus tracks “Kiss ~Kairimichi no Love Song~ (Melomasu Version)” and “Kiss ~Kairimichi no Love Song~ (Harmony Masu Version)”.

Famikura Store Exclusive Edition:

Presented in a special box, it adds the versions of “Koibumi” (Every Little Thing) and “FOREVER MINE” (Tatsuro Yamashita), as well as a large-format photo book and a clearfile.

New national tour: ‘Kidoairaku 2nd LIVE’

The album release will be accompanied by a concert tour that will visit five Japanese cities and will offer 14 shows. The “Masuda Takahisa 2nd LIVE Kidoairaku” tour will begin on 10 April at the Sapporo Cultural Arts Theatre hitaru in Hokkaido, and will visit Fukuoka, Tokyo, Hyogo and Osaka.

With this project, Massu not only demonstrates his vocal versatility, but also his respect for Japan’s musical tradition, making timeless songs sound fresh and personal with his unmistakable voice.
