At the crossroads where the nostalgia of youth and the pinnacle of professional success converge, the stories that define great stars are woven. On May 18, 2026, the Shinsaibashi district in Osaka dressed up to celebrate the grand opening of the stunning new flagship boutique, “House of Dior Shinsaibashi.”
Among a select constellation of celebrities and brand ambassadors, one figure particularly captured the eyes and flashes of the press: Ren Nagase, the charismatic member of the idol group King & Prince and current “Dior Beauty Friend of the House“.
For Ren, this event was not just another corporate appearance on his schedule; it represented an emotional journey through time and a reunion with the city that saw him born as an artist.

A Avant-Garde Styling Filled with Memories
From the moment he stepped onto the event’s carpet, Ren dazzled attendees with a wardrobe that perfectly balanced haute couture with a contemporary, playful spirit. Dressed in pieces from Dior’s Fall 2026 collection, the artist wore an impeccably tailored black jacket over a blue striped shirt, completing the look with cargo pants and loafers.
When questioned by the press about the details of his outfit, he did not hide his enthusiasm, expressing a particular fondness for the central piece of his attire. “Without a doubt, my favorite part is the jacket,” he confessed with a smile. “Its design is very similar to one I had the opportunity to wear when we performed at the Kohaku Uta Gassen. It brings back incredibly special memories and makes me feel very comfortable wearing it here today.” This subtle yet meaningful connection between his attire and a major milestone in his musical career showcased, right from the start, the deeply personal approach the idol brought to the evening.
“Like Walking Inside a Museum”: The Grandeur of the New Boutique
The new “House of Dior Shinsaibashi,” officially opening its doors to the general public on May 21, is a masterpiece of commercial architecture and interior design conceived by the renowned architect Peter Marino. The space unfolds grandly across four floors that house women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections, accessories, fine jewelry, home decor (Maison), and fragrances. In addition, the boutique features a spectacular floral installation by botanical artist Azuma Makoto and hosts the restaurant “Monsieur Dior” by Michelin-starred chef Anne-Sophie Pic, offering a unique dining experience that infuses French cuisine with local Japanese ingredients.
For Ren, touring the boutique was an almost mystical experience. “It’s huge! Absolutely gorgeous,” he exclaimed in admiration. “Inside that grand exterior and lavish layout, there is a sharp, sophisticated beauty. There is art scattered everywhere, and every single element, like the design of the stairs, shows incredible attention to detail. Honestly, it feels like you are visiting an art museum rather than a boutique.“
An Unbreakable Bond with Osaka and the Shochikuza Theatre
The most touching moment of the evening arrived when journalists asked Ren about his memories of the Kansai region. Before establishing himself as one of the top figures in the Japanese entertainment industry and debuting nationwide, he honed his talents during his formative years as a member of Kansai Junior, the agency’s trainee division based in the Osaka area.
With eyes shining with nostalgia, Ren pointed out the proximity of a place he considers sacred. “When it comes to unforgettable memories in Osaka, I immediately think of the Osaka Shochikuza Theatre, which is located just a short walk from this very avenue,” he shared. “During my Kansai Junior days, the Shochikuza was our home. We performed on that stage through spring, summer, autumn, and winter; we spent virtually every season of the year working there. The fact that an incredible Dior boutique has been built right here, in a place so deeply tied to my roots and my beginnings, makes me feel a profound sense of destiny.”
The King & Prince star reflected on how this milestone came full circle in his life: “On a personal level, it makes me incredibly happy. Even as the years go by and my career takes new paths, my purest and most treasured memories of those years of hard work will always remain at the Shochikuza.“
Lighthearted Moments: High Fashion and Simple Pleasures
Despite the solemnity and high prestige surrounding the opening —an event graced by star- studded ambassadors including Yuko Araki, Ryusei Yokohama, Miki Nakatani, and Rika Yagi— Ren effortlessly won over the media with his trademark charm and approachability.
When asked if he had experienced any recent “dream-like” or extraordinary moments in his daily routine, the idol drew laughter and warm smiles from the crowd by shifting the focus away from international glamour to local culinary delights. “Recently, due to work, I traveled outside of Tokyo. While I was there, I had the chance to eat a kanidon (a crab meat rice bowl),” he recounted with childlike excitement. “They piled on an incredibly large amount of crab meat, and eating it with the seasoned sushi rice was just sublime. It was such a delicious culinary experience that it truly felt like a dream! I can still vividly remember that taste.“
Ren Nagase’s presence at the grand opening of “House of Dior Shinsaibashi” transcends standard public relations. It symbolizes the growth of a young junior who started out dancing on local stages in Osaka and has now returned to his roots as a music and fashion icon, hand-in-hand with one of the most prestigious luxury brands in the world. The opening of this spectacular venue not only sets a new benchmark for luxury fashion in western Japan, but it will also be remembered as the place where destiny and memories intersected to celebrate the inspiring journey of one of the brightest stars of his generation.
