Naniwa Danshi will provide the official theme song for the film “Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki” (うるわしの宵の月 / In the Clear Moonlit Dusk) starring member Shunsuke Michieda, which opens on October 23. Created specifically for the movie, “Moonlit” (ムーンリット) serves as a dramatic companion piece to the awkward yet heartfelt romance between two high school students who are both known as “Prince.”
Like its title—meaning “bathed in moonlight”—the song features delicate lyrics and a beautiful melody that reflect the film’s atmosphere, vividly portraying the bittersweet tenderness of the pair’s first love and adding emotional depth to the story. This marks the first time that Naniwa Danshi has performed the theme song for a film starring Shunsuke.
A teaser trailer featuring a glimpse of the track was also unveiled.
Yoi Takiguchi (played by Seira Anzai), a girl whose androgynous beauty and cool demeanor have earned her the nickname “Prince,” meets Kohaku Ichimura (Shunsuke Michieda), an upperclassman with perfect looks who is also known as “Prince.” Although neither can yet put into words why they are drawn to each other, their relationship begins to change when Kohaku casually asks, “Want to try going out with me?”
As they spend time with their colorful classmates on a school trip to Kobe and at a summer festival, they reveal sides of themselves that no one else gets to see. Meanwhile, the appearance of Oji, the “third Prince,” and Yoshiko, Kohaku’s childhood friend, causes both of their feelings to waver.
The trailer captures the hesitant relationship between two people who are aware of one another but are still too inexperienced to fully call it love. Accompanied by “Moonlit,” the footage beautifully highlights the soft, sparkling moments of young romance. The result is a preview that blends excitement and heartache, further building anticipation for the film.
The cast so far…
Shunsuke Michieda stars as Kohaku Ichimura, the first “Prince.” With his natural elegance, transparency, and prince-like aura, he perfectly embodies the school’s most popular and handsome student. He brings out Kohaku’s hidden sincerity and purity beneath his flirtatious exterior while delicately portraying the character’s first experience with serious love after meeting Yoi. His striking platinum blond hairstyle, styled to closely match the original manga, has also attracted attention.
Yoi Takiguchi, the second “Prince,” is played by Seira Anzai, marking her first leading role in a romance film. She carefully portrays Yoi’s uncertainty as she experiences love for the first time, using her naturally mature and boyish charm to capture the character’s composed yet vulnerable personality.
The cast also includes Rintaro Mizusawa as the third “Prince,” Takuto Oji. Joining them as classmates who watch over Kohaku and Yoi’s hesitant romance are Yuna Hoshino, Sayu Suzukawa, Takato Okura (Genin wa Jibun ni Aru), and Tatsumi Asa. Yuki Yoda and Naohito Fujiki have also been announced as part of the cast, further raising anticipation for the film.
Shunsuke Michieda – Comment
“This is a pure love song that’s very much in Naniwa Danshi’s style, while also being created to closely complement the film. It captures all of the sadness, excitement, and frustrating emotions portrayed in the story. I’m truly happy that we can help bring even more life to the movie with this song! I hope everyone will come to love it!“
