LiSA releases “Sophilia” music video featuring Tao Tsuchiya and Snow Man’s Daisuke Sakuma

Popular artist LiSA, who is known over the world for performing many iconic themes in anime and other media, has released the “MUSiC CLiP” for her new song,  “Sophilia” (ソフィリア), on YouTube.

The track was conceived as the theme for the film “Matching: TRUE LOVE,” (マッチング TRUE LOVE), which opened in theaters on September 25. LiSA herself participated in writing the lyrics, which express the feelings of protagonist Rinka Tadashima (played by Tao Tsuchiya), toward Tomu Nagayama (played by Snow Man member Daisuke Sakuma), while offering an answer to the movie’s theme of ‘true love.’

The music video was directed by Eiji Uchida, who also directed the motion picture, and features Tao and Daisuke reprising their respective roles.

Through contemporary dance, the video portrays the strong and complicated bond between Rinka and Tomu.

At its heart, “Sophilia” is a song about loving someone so deeply that the possibility of losing them becomes almost unbearable. It explores the contradictions of love: how it can bring comfort and pain, how two people can understand each other yet remain mysterious to one another, and how something so beautiful can also be incredibly fragile.

The track’s most compelling idea is that love doesn’t become meaningful because it can guarantee permanence; it becomes meaningful because people continue choosing each other despite knowing how fragile their connection may be. The protagonist cannot promise that she will never lose the person she loves—she cannot eliminate uncertainty or make life last forever. But she can remember them, reach for them, and hope to find them again. And perhaps that is the most beautiful and heartbreaking aspect of “Sophilia“: its speaker faces the possibility that everything is temporary, yet continues to love as though their story has no final ending.

Synopsis of “Matching: TRUE LOVE”

Two years have passed since the “App Marriage Serial Murders,” in which couples who met through dating apps were successively killed. Rinka Tadashima and Tomu Nagayama overcame the incident and began dating, but Tomu suddenly vanished from Rinka‘s life.

At the same time, a series of murders occurs that seem to be imitating the previous case. A large number of white roses are left at the scene, and an “X” mark is carved into the victims’ faces. Two months after Tomu‘s disappearance, Rinka works as a staff member in a matching tour held on a southern island.

However, what awaits the participants is an intense death game in which they will be killed if they cannot prove their ‘true love.’ In a situation with no escape, the hidden sides of the participants begin surfacing one after another. Eventually, Tomu reappears before Rinka.
