SixTONES members Jesse, Yugo Kochi and Shintaro Morimoto star in a new commercial for Makita, which began airing nationwide in Japan on October 11. As the brand’s newly appointed ambassadors, the trio showcases the power of Makita’s cordless tools through a series of dynamic action scenes.

The commercial opens with the three members striking stylish poses with cordless power tools in hand. Accompanied by a powerful rock soundtrack, the lid of a MAKTRAK case opens to mark the beginning of the action. Each member then demonstrates the strength and performance of the tools in his own field, delivering intense and impressive scenes.
Jesse takes on the challenge of cutting through a thick log with a cordless chainsaw, with flying wood chips emphasizing the tool’s power. Kochi uses an impact driver to drive screws into a wooden post, demonstrating the tool’s strength and smooth operation. Meanwhile, Shintaro delivers a powerful performance with a hammer, dramatically breaking apart concrete.
The action continues with a series of striking product shots and additional demonstrations. Jesse operates a disc grinder, sending sparks flying, while Shintaro uses a power cutter to cut through concrete. Kochi also makes an appearance with a backpack blower, forcefully clearing away a large pile of fallen leaves.
Combining fast-paced visuals with a hard-hitting soundtrack, the commercial highlights the versatility and performance of Makita’s tools. By bringing together the dedication and discipline of skilled professionals with a positive attitude toward taking on new challenges, the campaign conveys a fresh take on the strength that the brand strives to embody.
In contrast to the intense atmosphere of the commercial, the set remained relaxed and cheerful between takes. The three members showed off their excellent teamwork as they watched each other film, checked the monitors together and exchanged their thoughts. After filming wrapped, the staff presented them with bouquets, and the shoot came to a successful close amid loud applause and smiles from the trio.
A special video series titled Jesse, Kochi and Morimoto’s Chair-Making Challenge Before the CM Shoot Ends will also be released. Making use of the breaks between filming, the three members take on the challenge of building chairs using Makita’s cordless power tools, with each aiming to complete one chair before the commercial shoot finishes.
Alongside their serious efforts to handle the tools efficiently under time constraints, viewers can look forward to the trio’s characteristic banter and their cheerful interactions as they enjoy working on the project together.
Will all three members manage to finish their chairs before filming wraps? The six-part special video series, featuring each member’s unique approach to chair-making, will be released gradually on Makita’s official website.
