Ryosuke Yamada Unveils Solo Album "RED"

Hey! Say! JUMP’s Ryosuke Yamada will release his first-ever solo original album, RED, on April 16, marking a defining moment in his artistic journey.

To celebrate this milestone, he will also embark on his first solo tour, Ryosuke Yamada LIVE TOUR 2025 RED, kicking off April 26 in Shizuoka and concluding June 22 in Fukuoka.

During the recent press conference in Tokyo, Yamada reflected on how his perspective on solo activities has evolved over the years, and shared, “Twelve years ago, I was so focused on the group that I had a negative view of going solo. But now, in an era where we’re all discovering our individual strengths, I realized that if I have the chance to express myself as an artist, I want to take on that challenge.”

Throughout the years, when asked about his solo journey, he’s always been expressive over the fact that he initially didn’t want to, but his fellow members encouraged him to do so.

He’s always been one to passionately care and think about the group first and foremost, and going solo—especially at such a young age—was a difficult decision to make. To Yamada, there’s no “Yamada Ryosuke” without Hey! Say! JUMP, which is why it’s been difficult for him to wrap his head around the positive view of going solo.

Now, in 2025, as he mentioned, it’s an era where so many of his peers and alike are discovering their individual strengths and dreams, and with the group going into their 17th year since debut, the horizon for Yamada’s solo journey is wide and excitingly unknown.

To craft the perfect sound, Yamada immersed himself in over 100 songs during the production process, carefully selecting tracks that would introduce fans to new sides of himself.

“I think this album allows people to experience a version of Ryosuke Yamada that they’ve never seen or heard before.”

His album title, “RED,” not only represents his member color but also embodies his burning passion for this project.

“I wanted this album to convey the emotions that have been welling up inside me. This is my first album, but I approached it with the mindset of making it feel like a best-of collection,” he commented.

Yamada’s expressive vocal techniques take a different approach from his past performances with Hey! Say! JUMP, offering a fresh and unexpected sound.

The first-ever solo tour will span six cities and 13 performances, starting at Shizuoka’s Ecopa Arena and traveling through Osaka, Miyagi, Chiba, Hiroshima, before concluding at Fukuoka’s Marine Messe Hall A.

Balancing the production of this tour alongside Hey! Say! JUMP’s Dome Tour and Countdown Live was a challenge, but Yamada embraced it with excitement:

“At one point, I thought my brain would explode! But more than stress, I just kept thinking about how to make it the most exciting experience for the fans.”

Unlike Hey! Say! JUMP concerts, this tour will let him fully express his individuality as an artist.

“Of course, I’ll still bring my idol side, but I also want fans to experience Ryosuke Yamada as an artist in a way that’s never been done before,” he shared.

Interestingly, his fellow Hey! Say! JUMP members are planning to attend one of his shows, though Yamada jokingly requested, “Just don’t tell me when you’re coming—I’ll get too nervous!”
