It has been announced that SixTONES‘ Taiga Kyomoto will appear as a Japanese guest in “Disney Broadway Hits feat. Alan Menken supported by Disney★JCB Card” at the Tokyo International Forum Hall A from July 1st to July 3rd. Taiga has played the lead role of Jack in the Japanese version of “Newsies” (a Disney production composed by Alan Menken), and this will be his second participation in the show, following the previous performance in 2023.
The performance, which welcomes the master of Disney music Alan Menken, will be in two acts, with the first act featuring a piano solo by Alan Menken, who has created famous songs for such well-known classics as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid, and the second act featuring a gorgeous performance by an authentic Broadway cast and Japanese guests.
Taiga has steadily built up his stage career with musicals such as Elisabeth and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, and his starring role in last year’s musical Mozart! was the talk of the town. He has continued to take on the challenges of numerous major musicals, including being cast as the main character Guy in the Japanese version of the musical Once, which will be performed this autumn and which won nine Tony Awards.
In preparation for his return to the concert, Taiga saw the Disney musicals Aladdin and The Lion King, which are currently being performed on Broadway in New York, the home of musicals. Having experienced first-hand the atmosphere of the real thing, Taiga is expected to give an even more powerful performance than last time.
Last year marked 30 years since the first Disney musical was staged on Broadway. The concert will also be a new production, as befits the increased power of Disney on Broadway. Alan Menken will sing and play the piano to a beautiful melody, and the Broadway cast will deliver a moving performance with their extraordinary voices and the rich expressive power they have developed in the show. And watch out for Taiga‘s performance, which continues to make great strides.
The announcement was made in a particular way. On the official Disney Broadway Hits’ X account, they uploaded a video of the authentic Broadway cast (Kara Lindsay, Michael James Scott, Kissy Simmons) welcoming Taiga. As it is the second time, they already knew each other, and you can see a good atmosphere between them.
