Travis Japan’s Umi (Kaito Nakamura) Cast as David in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch

After a few days of buzzing rumors… itโ€™s official:
Travis Japanโ€™s Kaito “Umi” Nakamura is joining the Disney family as a voice actor in the live-action movie “Lilo & Stitch”!!

A person with medium-length hair wearing a dark green shirt, smiling while holding a blue Stitch plush toy, standing indoors with large windows in the background.

Thatโ€™s right โ€” our very own Umi (yes, his nickname literally means “sea“!) will be lending his warm, low-toned voice to none other than David, the kind-hearted (and handsome) surfer who lovingly watches over sisters Lilo and Nani. ๐Ÿ„โ€โ™‚๏ธโœจ

The movie, set to hit theaters in Japan on June 6, brings Disneyโ€™s beloved story of family, love, and a very mischievous alien fully to life. And get this โ€” a special clip from the Japanese dubbed version has already been released, featuring Umi’s voice as David, getting adorably dragged into Liloโ€™s chaotic adventures!

For Umi, this role is extra special. True to the meaning behind his given name, “Kaito” (ๆตทไบบ; characters for ‘sea’ and ‘person’), he’s been close to the sea growing up, surrounded by family who wished for him to have a heart “as wide as the ocean.” It feels almost destined that he’d one day voice a character like David โ€” a gentle, caring surfer with a hidden crush on Nani. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’™

Because of his name and background, he is affectionately nicknamed โ€œUminchuโ€ (child of the sea), from which his official nickname “Umi” is derived.

And talk about timing: Umi got the surprise news that he landed the role just before hitting the stage for a Travis Japan concertโ€”much like when Genta received his news for Mufasa! Imagine being backstage, getting that news, and then high-fiving all your members in pure celebration?! Talk about a perfect ohana moment!

This is his very first voice acting role, following in the footsteps of Genta, who voiced Taka in The Lion King: Mufasa last year.

Umi shared, โ€œIโ€™m so happy to continue after Genta! I watched Lilo & Stitch all the time as a kid โ€” my first stuffed animal from the Disney Store was actually Stitch! Iโ€™ll do my best to bring David to life with my voice and help make the movie unforgettable. Please come see it!โ€

Mark your calendars: June 6 โ€” ohana means family, and family means supporting Umiโ€™s epic Disney debut together! ๐Ÿ„โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿพโœจ
