This collaboration comes as a kick-off to the 100th anniversary of Mickey Mouse’s on-screen debut, in 2028, and is part of Disney‘s giant global campaign “Mickey & Friends: In Real Life”
The “King & Prince 24-25 ～Re:ERA～ live tour” has finally kicked off with its first date on May 10th at the PayPay Dome in Fukuoka, and it did it in a big way! The return of the charismatic duo to Japan’s domes after two years has taken place after several days, where both disneyjp and King&Prince have been dropping little hints to their fans about a possible collaboration that was confirmed during the MC of the opening concert of the 3 domes tour, which has been streamed live on YouTube, bringing great news to fans who were watching!
During the MC, Ren Nagase, who was preparing to take a photo, received a call that began to play over the loudspeakers. The voice of his caller was easily recognisable to everyone. Nagase and Takahashi kep their animated conversation: “The photo we took recently was amazing, and it was also great to dance together!” they said. The surprising interlocutor was none other than Mickey Mouse!. “It would be nice if tiaras and everyone watching the live could hear it!“, and at that very moment they presented “What We Got ～奇跡はきみと～“, with a catchy performance that enchanted, taking the dome into a dream world!
In this way, after the performance, it was announced that King & Prince will be participating in the worldwide project commemorating the debut of Disney‘s beloved character Mickey Mouse on screen (he made his screen debut on 18 November 1928 in the world’s first animated sound short, Steamboat Willie. A performer who has demonstrated many talents, including singing, dancing and playing instruments, and has appeared in over 140 films to date), with the release of a new digital single that will be available on all platforms from 23 May! which coincides with the day King & Prince will celebrate the seventh anniversary of their CD debut. So, in this way, we can say that we have a double celebration!!
Mickey, who will celebrate his 100th birthday in 2028, and King & Prince, who will celebrate their tenth anniversary since their debut in 2028, have one thing in common: they both celebrate their significant anniversaries in the same year!!
This new official song is titled: “What We Got 〜奇跡はきみと〜” / “What We Got 〜The Miracle Is With You〜“. This work is based on the Disney song “What We Got (Mickey’s Birthday Song)” released in 2016, and it sings about how a chance encounter can turn into a valuable bond, delivering smiles to all. Thanks to this collaboration with their best friends, King & Prince, original arrangements have been added to the music, as well as Japanese lyrics translated by themselves, creating a new Disney song!
“The cheerful arrangement is wonderful, it’s a song that can make everyone smile. The positive energy is fitting for Mickey‘s theme song,” said Disney’s American headquarters, which praised the song, making it the first official Mickey song produced with a Japanese artist. “This song will undoubtedly be a Disney song that will light up until the end of the world,” they said.
New visuals for the single were also revealed during the MC, featuring King & Prince, who since childhood have loved Mickey like all of us, enjoying in the pop culture hub of Shibuya, alongside the most popular Disney characters, expressing the theme “Spending time with Mickey and his friends” and also the creation of a special logo that merges the King & Prince and Mickey & Friends logos.

The collaboration with Mickey was really a dream. Since I was a kid, I learned English with Mickey, I visited him at Disneyland and he was always a close presence and at the same time, like a dream. I always thought that I wanted to create something together with him. Being able to sing a theme song as best friends has made my dream come true in the best way, and will probably become a lifelong treasure for us.
