Following the recent announcement made by SixTONES during their celebration of their 10th naming anniversary, we will be posting a 10-day countdown to introduce some of the songs that will be available for streaming on 17th May 2025!
For one of the members, Hokuto Matsumura’s 2022 drama series, “Koi Nante, Honki de Yatta Do Suro No?,” SixTONES released their single “Watashi.” Fans first heard its shortened version when it played during the drama’s pilot episode.

We asked fans about their first impression of the song, having heard it first while watching the drama, and how they felt when the full song was released:
“My first impression of わたし was that it’s a mellow song that fits the tone of the drama perfectly. While the overall impression of the song didn’t change much after I heard the full version, I like the fact that, as with most other SixTONES songs, I get to hear different members sing the second verse, the bridge, and the last chorus; and they bring in different singing techniques and impression to the lyrics. For this particular song, the biggest surprise factor was I get to hear Juri, who is usually associated with rap in a hoarse voice, sing a full-blown ballad. It was SO fresh for me to hear Juri belt out the last chorus in that silvery voice of his!” 💎 matsuhokuro
“When they played a short version in the first episode of KoiMaji, I loved how elegant and smooth as velvet Hokuto and Taiga’s voices sounded in the opening lines. I must confess that, since the characters were talking during the scene, I couldn’t fully concentrate on the song. But when I listened to the full version, I was struck by the delicacy of all six voices—their blend made Watashi achingly, beautifully angsty. I think they captured the emotions in the lyrics perfectly. It’s one of those songs that grows deeper with each listen, especially through headphones.” 💎 _Maririn
“It is a song that expresses falling in love in such a melancholy manner. Not only the lyrics and melody, but also the sound. This is where the “uniqueness” of SixTONES can be seen. The song was performed without rapping or dancing, which was quite unusual for SixTONES at the time.” 💎 TiduAura
