Kento Nakajima to be in the drama “Shosen Hitogoto Desu Kara Toaru Bengoshi no Honne no Shigoto”

Kento Nakajima is set to play the lead role in the TV drama adaptation of the hit manga “Shosen Hitogoto Desu Kara ~Toaru Bengoshi no Honne no Shigoto~,” starting July 19 on TV Tokyo’s Drama 8. The series will air every Friday at 8 PM, with an extended 15-minute premiere episode. This marks Kento’s first appearance and leading role in a TV Tokyo drama since going solo.

In this new era of ultra-realistic legal drama, Kento plays Osamu Yasuda, a lawyer specializing in internet troubles and running his own law firm. Osamu is known for his catchphrase, “It’s just someone else’s problem, isn’t it?

Despite his charming smile, his words are anything but sweet. Osamu tackles contemporary issues like online flaming, SNS troubles, and defamation, resolving these cases with a refreshing decisiveness and, at times, a dark edge.

The drama aims to bring to light highly relevant issues today and challenge the audience’s perception of what is truly “just someone else’s problem.

The original manga “Shosen Hitogoto Desu Kara ~Toaru Bengoshi no Honne no Shigoto~” is created by Satou Maato, with art by Fujiya Katsuhito and supervision by Shimizu Yohei; it is serialized in Hakusensha’s “Kuromitsu.”

The story follows the eccentric lawyer Osamu Yasuda, whose motto, “It’s just someone else’s problem,” guides him as he tackles social issues such as online flaming and SNS troubles.

The manga is acclaimed for its realistic portrayal of lawyer-client interactions and court procedures, emphasizing that anyone can become entangled in online troubles.

Kento, who has charmed audiences not only as an idol but also through his versatile performances in variety shows and his evolving acting career, will bring the character of Osamu Yasuda, with his cute smile and sharp tongue, to life with a mix of precision and occasional humor.

Notable works are Love Like the Falling Petals (Netflix), She Was Pretty, and the upcoming surveillance drama Concordia by the famous Frank Doelger.

Set to air in the summer of 2024 on TV Tokyo, this live-action series will faithfully adapt cases from the original manga while also delving into the realistic conflicts and emotional changes experienced by lawyers and clients.

The addition of original characters and other unique elements will enhance the storytelling, making it a gripping and ultra-realistic legal drama. This series will challenge viewers to reconsider their views on modern internet issues, proving that these matters are never just someone else’s problem.

Kento Nakajima Comments

— What were your feelings when you were chosen for the role, and what was your impression after reading the script?

Since this is my first drama after graduating from Sexy Zone, I intend to approach it with the mindset of a newcomer. As I progressed through the script, I realized that it deals with issues common to everyone in the digital age—struggles, worries, and interactions with smartphones. The way my character, the lawyer, cuts through these problems decisively and leaves a refreshing feeling was incredibly satisfying and exhilarating for me as well.

— This legal drama tackles highly relevant themes like defamation and SNS scandals. What are your thoughts and determination for playing Lawyer Osamu Yasuda in these cases?

In the small world of smartphones, modern people are troubled by the barbs and lies born in the “comments section.” While the best solution is not to look at such comments, sometimes that’s unavoidable. Through this drama, I hope to show how to handle these situations legally, what consequences await the perpetrators, and what resolutions the victims might find. My character, Lawyer Osamu Yasuda, teaches these lessons with a fierce coldness but also with a momentary gentleness. I hope you enjoy this extremely dry aspect of my performance (laughs).

— Please leave a message for the viewers looking forward to the drama.

In this age dominated by SNS, we encounter, believe, and sometimes get confused or troubled by various information. Reflecting on the sights and experiences I’ve seen in the cases Yasuda handles in the story, I hope to present a thrilling and dangerous drama that can only be seen here. Please enjoy watching my lawyer character, who sharply cuts through the dark side of SNS!
