timelesz’s FAM: Our precious home, the home we wait for

When I pressed play on “FAM,” I braced myself for change. As someone who has followed Sexy Zone for years, my emotional investment runs deep. I was nervous. Would it feel unfamiliar? Would I miss the old dynamic? But from the very first track, I realized something simple and profound: it’s not the same, and that’s exactly why it’s beautiful.

Eight members of timelesz sitting together in a colorful living room filled with snacks, magazines, and decorations. The atmosphere is vibrant and playful, showcasing the group's unity and joy.

FAM” is timelesz’s debut album in their new eight-member formation, and it reverberates with growth, vulnerability, and celebration. It’s a love letter not just to fans, but to themselves—an ode to resilience, to found family, to embracing what comes next without forgetting where you started.

This new era didn’t emerge from nowhere. It is the result of a long, winding road—of Marius Yo and Kento Nakajima stepping away, of three original members holding the torch, and of five new dreamers daring to run forward. For those who stood by the name Sexy Zone, timelesz is not an ending. It’s the next chapter—written by those who chose to stay, evolve, and invite others in.

And on November 30, the album is available on streaming, with the additional five tracks!

Rock this Party

This explosive opener sets the tone with joy and unity. It feels like a welcome party—colorful, energetic, and maybe a little chaotic. Recorded in Hawaii, its music video is a montage of laughter and sun-soaked freedom. The synchrony in dance mirrors their emotional cohesion; it’s timelesz saying, “We’re in this together.”

It encapsulates the spirit of timelesz—a group born from passion, perseverance, and the dreams that brought them together. Originally introduced as the final audition song in the timelesz project, it now serves as a powerful anthem of unity, ambition, and celebration.

With lyrics penned by the original members Shori Sato, Fuma Kikuchi, and So Matsushima, the song carries the emotions of their journey, reflecting the highs and uncertainties of the audition process that led to this moment. It highlights the unwavering belief that anything is possible when you have the right people by your side—something that was important and highlighted during the audition process.

Baby What’s Your Name?

Funky, flirtatious, and effortlessly smooth, this R&B-tinged number oozes charm. It’s cool without trying too hard—the kind of track you sway to with a smirk. The contrast between the falsettos and the rap parts is especially catchy, adding a dynamic interplay that keeps the track lively and engaging.

It’s a track that perfectly balances nostalgia and modern flair, and this song has quickly become a fan favorite for its gentle resonance and timeless charm. As listeners have described it, there’s an “instinctive likability”—a sound that feels both fresh and familiar, evoking the golden tones of early 2000s J-pop.

Its laid-back melody and refreshing rhythm make it an ideal morning listen, even on gloomy days. One fan likened its emotional impact to the music of SMAP, calling it “the kind of song that saves you with new dreams.

Elegantly arranged with touches of soft rap and polished vocals, the song invites visions of the group performing in classic suits—a sentiment echoed by those who wish to see it brought to life on stage. Its sing-along quality only adds to its widespread appeal, making it the kind of track that stays with you long after it ends.

Whether you’re drawn in by its breezy optimism or its emotional warmth, this song captures the spirit of timelesz—grounded in history, but always reaching forward.

Do Me Do Me

Playful and punchy, it dances on the line between cheeky and bold. It’s infectiously fun and shows their willingness to not take themselves too seriously, and is sure to be a stand-out performance in the upcoming tour.

Described among fans as a morning pick-me-up, it’s a track that gets your heart racing and your mood lifted. Listeners have likened it to the kind of live-only tracks from past albums from older groups from the agency—pure joy in sound form, designed to energize and excite.

The beat of the song is similar to the danceable hits in J-POP, further emphasizing its infectious appeal. For many, it feels like an anthem crafted for devoted fans—a mix of nostalgia and freshness that resonates perfectly. The anticipation of a live performance is already prompting fans to envision chaos and excitement.

In every beat and chorus, “Do Me Do Me” dares you to stop smiling—and you won’t succeed. It’s cheeky, dynamic, and a perfect showcase of the group’s playful chemistry and infectious energy.

Head Up

Cinematic and grand, “Head Up” recalls Western boyband ballads, blending inspiration with nostalgia. It plays like the internal monologue of someone stepping into a new chapter, uncertain but brave.

It offers a stirring blend of theatrical flair and international polish, bringing a cinematic sweep to the album’s early moments. With its layered harmonies, sweeping melody, and uplifting rhythm, the track channels the grandeur of musical theater and the nostalgic feel of early 2000s Western pop.

This is a track designed to motivate—to lift the listener up and carry them forward. Positioned early in the album, it acts as an energetic pivot that both grounds and propels the listener. Its memorable chorus lingers long after the song ends, hinting at the power it could wield as a live performance centerpiece.

Each of the eight members brings something distinct to the arrangement, and “Head Up” celebrates that individuality while uniting their voices in a message of collective strength. The song’s structure, pairing personal verses with a shared, anthemic chorus, reinforces the group’s core message: unity without erasure of self.

Vocally, the harmonies shine. Every line feels intentional, showcasing the range and chemistry of this new formation. Whether it’s the subtle layering or the confident build-up to the chorus, “Head Up” demonstrates that timelesz is capable of sounding both global and grounded.

With its polished sound and emotional drive, the track doesn’t just uplift—it becomes a companion, urging you forward. In a collection focused on connection and growth, “Head Up” is the hand that reaches out and says: let’s keep going—together.

Flavor

Flavor” drapes itself in a velvety haze—lazy, sexy, and effortlessly smooth. Its laid-back tempo conjures the image of a dimly lit lounge, with melodies swaying like candlelight at midnight. There’s an intimacy to this track that sets it apart; falsetto lines float like whispered secrets, and the gentle instrumentation caresses rather than commands.

The song unfolds like a late-night confession—quiet, drawn out, and deeply personal. It explores the tension between restraint and desire, crafting an atmosphere of closeness where even silence is charged with meaning. You can feel the quiet urgency, the unspoken longing to understand and be understood—not just emotionally, but physically and spiritually.

The interplay between softness and intensity in both the vocals and production creates a soundscape that’s more than just romantic—it’s enveloping. It feels like surrendering to connection, trusting someone enough to be completely unguarded.

It’s a quiet embrace at the end of a long day, a brush of fingers over silk sheets. There’s a sensuality to it—not overt, but suggestive—delivered through vocal restraint and textural nuance. It’s that rare track where you can feel the song breathing, slow and unhurried.

Live, it’s easy to imagine “Flavor” leaning into its sultrier edge. Suits under soft spotlights, microphones gripped close, and a stage bathed in cool blues and purples, or even the orange hues of dawn—it has the potential to become a signature moment of stillness and seduction in their setlist.

This is timelesz at their most understated and confident. With “Flavor,” they remind us that power doesn’t always come from volume. Sometimes, it comes from knowing when to let the music linger—and from daring to express vulnerability through softness.

because

It’s a quiet acknowledgment of what came before. The harmonies ache with familiarity, the kind that only years of singing together can create. It’s not just nostalgia—it’s a promise.

A quiet emotional core of the album, “because” is both a farewell and a thank-you. Crafted and performed during timelesz’s time as a trio—Fuma, Shori, and So—this track carries deep personal weight. It marks not only their final release as three but serves as a tribute to the people who walked with them through every stage: their fans.

It breaks you, in the most gentle way possible.

This soul-stirring ballad captures the essence of their unbreakable bond, forged through years of shared dreams and challenges. With their voices weaving together in perfect harmony, the trio pours gratitude into every note, reflecting on the choice to stay united as timelesz welcomed five new members into their family.

Blending gentle melodies with aching sincerity, “because” reflects a sense of gratitude, vulnerability, and enduring love. The song expresses both the pain of parting and the beauty of having loved—of having built something together that endures, even as things change.

Lyrically written by Fuma, “because” shines with his signature emotional precision. There’s a quiet bravery in the words, a sense of looking someone in the eye and saying, “I’m here because of you.” It’s not just romantic—it’s deeply human, encapsulating the bonds that form when people stay beside each other through the ups and downs.

As the trio’s voices soar, they remind us that some bonds are forever, no matter how the world changes.

Visually and sonically, every element of the single was a collaborative labor of love. So’s choreography adds another layer of intimacy, especially in its use of sign language to symbolize the title’s meaning. Shori’s production choices for the music video, which captures the members wandering through Tokyo, anchor the song in real, lived experience. Their chemistry—unforced and natural—becomes the centerpiece.

The result is a track that doesn’t strive to impress with flair, but instead invites the listener to pause and feel. It’s subtle but deeply affecting, much like the bond between the three members. “because” stands as a gentle but powerful reminder: what we build together matters, and the love that fuels it leaves echoes long after.

HONEY ALMOND

As sweet as its title suggests, this track is airy and bright, like a gentle breeze between heavier emotional moments. Its romantic lilt offers a pause for smiles.

Like a sweet treat shared among friends, “HONEY ALMOND” sprinkles a burst of joy across FAM, capturing the warmth and playfulness of timelesz’s newfound family. This infectious pop gem sparkles with the eight members’ vibrant harmonies, blending catchy melodies with a stylish flair that feels both fresh and familiar. Its lighthearted energy evokes the thrill of late-night laughter and shared secrets, inviting fans—our beloved secondz—into the heart of timelesz’s circle.

But beneath its sweetness lies a whimsical story that unfolds through each verse. The lyrics trace the gentle nerves of a quiet crush—shy glances, nervous greetings, unspoken feelings. There’s something beautifully youthful about the way it captures the hesitancy and hope of wanting to be noticed by someone special. The soft falsettos offer a tender vulnerability, while the clever use of rhythm and rap elevate the song beyond simple sweetness.

Vocally, it feels like a gentle whisper between friends, or the hush of a secret kept too long. The layered vocals, paired with light instrumentation, give the track a dreamlike quality—like the soundtrack to a crush blooming in a quiet classroom or a nighttime walk under city lights.

HONEY ALMOND” stands out in the album for its balance. It’s a nice break from the high-energy anthems and introspective ballads, creating its own space as a mellow yet vibrant mid-tempo delight. The track’s funkiness and quirkiness bring just enough bounce to make it pop, echoing the unpredictable highs and lows of youth. It’s fun, but with layers—a melody that lingers like honey, and lyrics that stay tucked in the corners of your heart.

On stage, one can imagine it as a playful, cheeky interlude, letting the group showcase their chemistry and charm. The charm of this song lies in its simplicity, in the way it captures a very specific kind of vulnerability with grace and a touch of flirtation. It’s funky, it’s quirky, it’s FAMiliar—and it’s one of timelesz’s most endearing moments.

With every note, “HONEY ALMOND” radiates the sweetness of connection, a reminder that the best moments are those we savor together. It’s timelesz at their most delightful—serving up a melody that lingers like the taste of honey on your tongue.

ONE AND ONLY (ワンアンドオンリー)

This is the heart of the album. Visually and sonically, it’s a tribute to their togetherness.

At the heart of the song lies a simple but powerful message: out of this vast, limitless world, we found each other—and that makes us the best companions,” says the group.

True to its message, “ONE AND ONLY” shines as a pop love song layered with breezy optimism and emotional sincerity. It’s not just a song about romantic love—it’s about the love shared among friends, fans, and the entire team behind timelesz.

This isn’t just about preserving a name or sound—it’s about upholding the values that have always run through their work: resilience, joy, and the power of irreplaceable bonds. In choosing to grow rather than retreat, they’ve honored not only their own story, but the spirit of connection and evolution that has defined their agency across generations.

Because, in the endless expanse of this world, what are the odds that eight people—each with their own histories, strengths, and silent struggles—would find one another and create something this whole?

ONE AND ONLY” is a love letter to chosen family.
To the laughter that fills shared spaces.
To the quiet strength of standing side by side.
To the miracle of becoming something more—together.

It began with three—FumaShori, and So-chan: voices steady, hearts unwavering, carrying the weight of the legacy of when they were five while still daring to dream of something new. When five more stepped forward—TeraHaraShinoShuto, and Masaki—it wasn’t just a group expanding—it was a home opening its doors. And each of them brought something irreplaceable:

Some had danced alone for years; others had never known what it meant to belong. But here, on this stage, surrounded by warmth and unwavering support, each member bloomed.

Because this isn’t just music.
It’s a reunion. A beginning. A family.
And in a world full of passing moments, this—this is something timeless.

Scent of No.9

Drift into the intoxicating allure of “Scent of No.9,” a mesmerizing gem on FAM that weaves a tapestry of memory and emotion. This sophisticated track envelops listeners in a rich, atmospheric melody, where the eight voices of timelesz blend into a hauntingly beautiful harmony. Crafted with a nod to the group’s high-sensitivity roots, it evokes the timeless elegance of classic J-POP, yet pulses with the fresh energy of their new era.

There’s a luxurious, moody quality to the track—one that feels like stepping into a dream tinged with wistful recollection. The opening vocals drift in like a breeze through dusk-lit windows, setting the tone for a song that could easily sit beside the more refined moments of their past album “THE HIGHLIGHT.” It holds onto the core idol-pop sensibility but laces it with a world-weary maturity that speaks to how far the members have come.

Scent of No.9” stands as a turning point in the album’s emotional arc. It’s a moment of stillness, of reflection, where longing becomes palpable and the ache of what once was is reimagined as art. The lyrics conjure the lingering sensation of a fragrance—of love once present and now only remembered. This lingering motif makes the song feel tactile, like a scent on your skin long after the moment has passed.

The arrangement is understated yet elegant, allowing the vocals to shine with subtle sensuality. Each line feels like it’s brushing against memory itself, and the group’s harmonies give it a rich emotional depth. It’s a soundscape that invites you to close your eyes and feel every note, not just hear it.

It’s also a quiet reminder of how much the timelesz journey has transformed these eight artists—not just into performers, but into storytellers. With “Scent of No.9,” they don’t just perform a song; they live within it, drawing us into the layered emotions that define the timelesz experience.

1君へ (Kimi e)

To you, our secondz, “Kimi e” is a heartfelt whisper from the five new voices of timelesz—Takuto Teranishi, Yoshitaka Hara, Masaki Hashimoto, Shuto Inomata, and Taiki Shinozuka. Penned by their own hands, this tender ballad carries the emotional weight of their journey—from the uncertain, dream-filled beginnings of the timelesz audition project to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the original members on this monumental album.

A true vocal showcase, “Kimi e” is the first time fans get to fully immerse themselves in the tonal nuances and heartfelt sincerity of the new members. Even for those familiar with Hara and Tera’s past performances, hearing their voices captured on a major group release hits differently—it feels official, permanent, and deeply moving. Their delivery is laced with humility and gratitude, creating a song that tugs at the heartstrings.

Lyrically, “Kimi e” plays like a handwritten letter to the fans who have stood by them. It’s a soft, soul-stirring message of appreciation and commitment—a musical vow that says, “We’re here now, and we’re staying.” The composition is delicate yet emotional, with swells that mimic the highs and lows of a heartfelt confession. Their harmonies bloom in unison, evoking both the joy and trepidation of starting anew.

This isn’t just another ballad—it’s a milestone. A declaration that the new members are not merely filling shoes, but carving their own place in the legacy of timelesz. Through this emotionally resonant track, they say not only “thank you,” but also “let’s continue forward—together.”

Popcoooooooorn!

Get ready to pop with joy—”Popcoooooooorn!” is the fizzy, infectious anthem that lights up FAM with pure, unbridled fun, and it’s honestly my favorite track of the album. This vibrant track bursts onto the scene like a celebration in full swing, inviting every listener into the heart of timelesz’s family. With its catchy melody and playful energy, the eight members’ voices dance together, sparking laughter and excitement that’s impossible to resist.

It’s a burst of glittering energy: pure fun. It’s campy, catchy, and unapologetically bright. The kind of track that gets stuck in your head and keeps you smiling.

As the ultimate name card for the reborn timelesz, “Popcoooooooorn!” captures the thrill of new beginnings, welcoming both secondz and newcomers to the party. The shortest track on the album, it nevertheless packs a punch, channeling a high-drive pop-rock sound reminiscent of classic J-POP and anime anthems. Its joyful chorus and energetic instrumentation make it an instant crowd-pleaser.

The imagery is vivid—picture the FAM tour stage ablaze with color, fans waving penlights and towels in rhythm, and the group’s infectious spirit uniting everyone in a shared moment of euphoria. It’s a reminder that joy is often found in the smallest, most explosive moments. “Popcoooooooorn!” is proof that fun, energy, and heart can go hand-in-hand.

In just a few minutes, timelesz delivers a burst of happiness that lingers long after the song ends—this is them at their most exuberant, proving that music doesn’t need to be long to leave a lasting impression.

手をたたけ愛ならせ

Clap your hands and let love resound—“Te wo Tatake Ai Narase” is the electrifying heartbeat of FAM, a sparkling anthem that pulses with the joy of togetherness. It starts mellow and introspective, but quickly bursts into an infectious, upbeat chorus that makes it impossible not to move. Built on shimmering pop hooks and soaring harmonies, this track is pure dynamism.

Channeling the timeless essence of J-POP, the song straddles nostalgic familiarity and fresh excitement. There’s a playful, slightly mischievous streak running through it—fitting for a group that refuses to follow a formula. The eight voices of timelesz blend seamlessly, guiding listeners through verses filled with soft longing into choruses that explode like confetti.

Te wo Tatake Ai Narase” feels like it’s tailor-made for fan interaction: a hands-in-the-air, call-and-response celebration that’s sure to shine on stage. The clapping motif isn’t just a gimmick—it’s a symbol of unity, echoing the shared rhythm between group and fans. With each beat, the song hammers home its message: love is meant to be heard, felt, and celebrated together.

In this track, timelesz isn’t just performing—they’re inviting. Inviting every secondz into the moment, the memory, the magic. It’s a celebration of who they’ve been and who they’re becoming, wrapped in rhythm and reverberating joy.

I’m Home

As the final notes of FAM unfold, “I’m Home” wraps the listener in a tender embrace—a soul-stirring ballad that feels like returning to the warmth of family after a long journey. It’s soft, grounding, and rich with emotional resonance. The eight members’ voices gently interlace, offering a moment of stillness, a collective exhale after a whirlwind of joy and transformation.

More than just a closing track, “I’m Home” is a full-circle moment. It represents arrival—not just in the literal sense of returning, but in the emotional sense of becoming. Each note echoes with gratitude, each lyric a whisper of reassurance. This song says what words often can’t: that this group, with all their history and hope, is exactly where they’re meant to be.

It’s a track that hits especially hard for those who’ve walked alongside Sexy Zone from the beginning. There’s a nostalgic undercurrent that speaks to the past, a familiar ache softened by the presence of something new. And for those still learning the names, faces, and voices of timelesz’s newest members, “I’m Home” is the invitation to stay—to take off your shoes, settle in, and feel the warmth radiating from their harmonies.

The arrangement is minimal but poignant, allowing the vocals to take center stage. And it’s in those notes their vocals produce that timelesz truly shines—eight individuals singing as one, not erasing their differences, but blending them into something richer. It feels like a love song to the fans, to each other, and to the music that brought them together.

Live, it promises to be unforgettable. The kind of song where lights dim, voices hush, and tears fall quietly. It’s easy to imagine fans swaying, whispering lyrics, and finding pieces of their own journey reflected in the lines. A song to hold hands to. A song that says, “You were never alone.”

I’m Home” is where the story pauses—not ends—with the quiet comfort of belonging. A closing track that doesn’t close anything at all, but instead leaves a door open. To hope. To growth. To love. This is timelesz’s promise: no matter the changes, this home—this music—is always yours.

We’re not saying goodbye. We’re just going home.

A group of eight members of timelesz stands together in a bright outdoor setting, dressed in light-colored suits. Confetti cascades around them, creating a celebratory atmosphere. The word 'FAM' is prominently displayed in the center.

FAM isn’t just an album—it’s a sanctuary. It’s the quiet reassurance after a storm, the laughter around a table, the warmth of finding your place again. It’s a testament to what music can become when made with sincerity, courage, and love.

As someone who has loved this group through its many stages, I wasn’t sure what this new chapter would feel like. But it turns out, it feels like home. With every harmony, every lyric, every shared smile on stage, timelesz proves that they are not starting over—they are building on everything they’ve ever been.

This album holds out its hand and says, “Come with us.” And I, like so many others, have taken that hand—grateful, teary-eyed, and more hopeful than I’ve felt in a long time.

And in that moment, something shifts. The fear of change gives way to the comfort of belonging.

Thank you, timelesz. For staying. For changing. For coming home—and for reminding us that we can too.

Thank you for showing us that transformation can be gentle, that growth can come with open arms, and that music—when sung from the heart—can build a home that’s big enough for everyone.

To timelesz: You are our FAM. And this album is the sound of that love echoing back.

We’re here. We stayed. We’re home.

  1. Sabina – Thank you so much for all of your recent timelesz coverage, but especially for your truly beautiful review of FAM. This portion, in particular, brought me to tears. “FAM isn’t just an album—it’s a sanctuary. It’s the quiet reassurance after a storm, the laughter around a table, the warmth of finding your place again. It’s a testament to what music can become when made with sincerity, courage, and love.” I am brand new to J pop. I was introduced to timelesz in February, through the documentary about the audition process on Netflix. At the conclusion of the documentary, I was so invested, I decided that I had to continue following them! And they haven’t let me down. As you noted, what a remarkable album they have put together in FAM! However, I am finding that supporting timelesz is difficult to do from the States. 🙂 I spend a lot of time taking screen shots of Instragram posts and then putting them into Google translate. (ha ha) Your blogs have helped me so much to understand timelesz and their history, and where they are (hopefully going) as a group. I’m a dedicated Tera/Hara fan so when you write particularly about their journeys I enjoy your perspective! I am learning more and more, day by day. With your help, and your eloquent writing, I know that I am not going to regret this adventure.

    1. Thank you so much for commenting! I’m really happy that my writing has helped you in your journey. timelesz in all their forms are exceptional boys and deserve all the support and love in the world, honestly. I’m also happy to hear that the Netflix documentary made you fan in particular!
As a fellow international fan, I understand the struggles of finding ways to support them from abroad. I would be more than happy to assist and help in any way I can if you have any questions or similar!

Thank you so much again for reading, and hope to see you again! <3
