J-POP Meets Manga: “MUSIC COMIC LABELZ” Launches with SUPER EIGHT-Inspired Digital Comics & Café Collab

A new label fusing the worlds of J-POP and digital comics has just launched—and it’s already making waves. MUSIC COMIC LABELZ, a first-of-its-kind initiative, kicks off with a powerful debut: five original digital comic series inspired by hit songs from veteran group SUPER EIGHT, celebrating their 20th anniversary.

Released weekly starting July 9, the lineup includes:

オオカミと彗星」 – Ookami to Suisei (Wolf and Comet),Re:LIVE」 – Re:LIVE, LIFE ~目の前の向こうへ~」 – LIFE ~Me no Mae no Mukou e~ (LIFE: Beyond What You See),大阪ロマネスク」 – Osaka Romanesque, andキミトミタイセカイ」 – Kimi to Mitai Sekai (The World I Want to See With You).

Each story spans three volumes and offers a fresh, standalone narrative universe, separate from the real-life members of SUPER EIGHT. However, the themes and emotional beats of each track are deeply embedded in the storylines—especially during climactic scenes, where the original songs are imagined as the soundtrack, enhancing the reader’s immersion.

“Wolf and Comet” Leads a Star-Studded Creative Team

The flagship title, “Wolf and Comet,” brings together an impressive creative duo. Written by Yuya Takahashi—best known for scripting the group’s feature film Eightranger—and featuring character designs by celebrated illustrator Kei Mochizuki (Fate/Grand Order), the project sets a high bar for the label’s artistic ambitions. Other contributing artists and writers include CNO, naru, Kanako Ishigami, and more, all drawing inspiration from the emotional worlds within SUPER EIGHT’s discography.

From Digital Page to Real-World Café: SUPER COMICS CAFE Opens Nationwide

To celebrate the launch, a limited-time themed café—SUPER COMICS CAFE—will open in six cities across Japan, starting August 22 through October 5. The café merges the comic storylines with the atmosphere of SUPER EIGHT’s music through immersive decorations and a carefully curated menu inspired by each title.
