NEWS announces new album ‘Henshin’ /『変身』and will perform a tour with 19 shows!

The long awaited moment has come, NEWS has finally announced “Henshin”, the fifteenth album of their career, to be released this August. In addition, they will also perform “NEWS LIVE TOUR 2025 変身” tour where they will tour 8 cities in Japan with 19 concerts full of new sensations!

The theme of this latest album that marks the trio’s 22nd anniversary is “metamorphosis”, which is represented in various ways with the message “this is NEWS‘ story of transformation, and also the listeners’ experience of transformation”.

The new tour that will shape this new musical work, due for release on 6 August, will kick off just a few days later on 9 August at the Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Centre (Hokkai Kitaeru).

The details of the album, which until recently were a complete mystery, have also finally been revealed. The narrative that will accompany us on the unique journey of “Henshin”, characterises the conceptual world of NEWS works. The narrator of the three “lectures” in this work, titled “Lecture 1: “Omen of the Transformation” – Interlude-“, “Lecture 2: “The Crossroads of Choice” – Interlude-“, and “Lecture 3: “The Destination of the Transformation” – Interlude-“, is voice actor Kouichi Yamadera, also known as “the man with seven voices”. The rich voice of Yamadera, who is participating in a NEWS work for the first time, and the “lecture” produced by ☆Taku Takahashi (m-flo) lead to an unknown “transformation” experience. This work is in a different style from the grand concept albums depicted over the past seven works, and is an important musical work that makes you feel the new “beginning of a story” for NEWS in the future.

The song production team includes a very diverse group of artists and creators, including ☆Taku Takahashi (m-flo), who has supported the NEWS music world on numerous occasions; Her0ism, Tomato Shinohara, Yuki Tsujimura, Zettakun; who joined the songwriting team for the latest single “Acchi Muite Hoi“, Kanata Okajima, Hayato Yamamoto; who composes songs for this album for the first time and Kujira. All of them in tune with the harmonious vocals of NEWS manage to produce a unique “metamorphosis”.

Alongside the song details, the album artwork was also released. The limited editions A and B feature an eye-catching design with the title logo and the members’ cool expressions and vibrant paintings. The regular edition, meanwhile, features two contrasting images of the group in different outfits, creating a stunning work of art. In addition, seven “Henshin” teaser videos have been sequentially released on NEWS‘ official YouTube channel and TikTok since July 10th. On July 17 at 21:15 the concept video「変⾝-Prologue-」Concept Movie will be released in advance. This is a new type of video in which both the set and the members themselves “transform” as a wide range of songs unfold.
