BON BON VOYAGE: Naniwa Danshi’s Brand New Musical Adventure!

With their sails set for a brand new adventure, Naniwa Danshi is back with their 4th studio album BON BON VOYAGE! The album contains 19 songs including previous titles “Koisuru Hikari” and “Doki it,” along with their first digital release “Yuuki 100%/Arigato Kokoro Kara.

A group of seven members of Naniwa Danshi poses together, dressed in matching green outfits, with a vintage map background that features a compass and dotted lines. They display a sense of adventure and camaraderie as they engage with various props like binoculars and a magnifying glass, representing the theme of travel and exploration for their album 'BON BON VOYAGE.'

Like the name suggests, BON BON VOYAGE is an album that will take you on a journey like never before! It is an album created with the theme of travel and adventure so you can enjoy more fun and more wonderful scenery together! It is packed with songs that are full of excitement and thrills, arranged in a way that will keep you hooked the entire time! Including the sparkling, high energy summer song “Gira Gira Summer“, which is also the theme song for ROUND1. Dare I say it’s an one of a kind non-skippable album.

The album opens with “The Greatest Voyage” that kickstarts the journey to the seven seas! A song that warms the listener’s heart with its bright, heartfelt lyrics full of hope towards an unknown future, an unknown world. One of the key highlights is how the song shows off the individuality of each member, both in terms of their singing styles as well as their unique personalities.

Over The Horizon!” carries on the traveller spirit but with a rock twist, making it a youth rock anthem! It captures the magic found in the mundane tasks hidden in our daily lives. Asking us to break through the gray fog that covers the limitless blue and follow our dreams. The teaser of the music video can be found here! While the full music video is featured in the Limited Edition 1!

Moving on, we of course have the summer song of the year, “Gira Gira Summer!” A song filled with Naniwa Danshi’s charm and energy, paired with bouncy disco beats. It’s the ultimate summer song of your dreams!

As we continue with our voyage, we have “Thrill Drive,” an 80’s-esque up-tempo synth pop dance track with strong guitar and catchy melodies that transports you from the disco club to the night streets. The key highlight of this song has to be Hassun’s captivating vocals, especially in the bridge!

Holding on to the dance vibes up next is “Circus Night.” Naniwa Danshi has their share of hardcore dance tracks like “2 Faced,” “LAI-LA-LA,” and more, but “Circus Night” is not like the other girls. This one goes hard! If you are a fan of SixTONES, you will love this one! Music that’s rather mysterious and extraordinary, it drags you into a crazy circus and will make sure you go wild on the dance floor!

The saga of dance tracks with retro pop vibes continue as it slowly evolves into something rather mature and sexy. Similar to past b-sides like “I know” and “Arifureta Koi Ja, Mo Mitasarenai,” “Oborete Ai” is Naniwa Danshi’s newest addition in their growing collection of sexy songs. This one comes with sexy one-liners at the intro and right after the bridge by Jo-kun and Kyohei respectively! How will they deliver these one-liners at the concert is something to look forward to!

After back to back high energy dance tracks, to calm down and relax Naniwa Danshi’s ship drops anchor in a love island (no pun intended). Basking in the warmth of feelings of love as Daigo asks “Oh tell me What if I say ‘I love you’?” in “moshimo,” you are wrapped in gentle feelings of love. Moshimo is not as fast as the dance tracks, not as slow as a ballad, it’s the only medium tempo track of the album that balances the varying energy between the songs. From the intro to the end, it’s a bittersweet song that closely resembles the night sea that glistens under the moonlight.

As the bittersweet feelings of moshimo start to settle down, up next comes “YUUWAKU DANCE” to take away any lingering feelings with its catchy and cute beat! This song will have you dancing in your seat, just like “Chuki Chuki Hurricane!”

By this time if you have started to miss Naniwa Danshi’s idol lover boy music, no worries, next up we have “Because I just love you.” A very classic idol song that’s oh so sparkly, prince-like and full of love. If the word endearing was a song, it would be “Because I just love you.” Fans have been relating this with one of Naniwa Danshi’s previous songs, “Brand New Heroine” from their first album 1st love, and have been requesting to add it to their upcoming tour setlist. If you are a love song enjoyer, this one is for you!

Next is “H.E.L.L.O,” a really refreshing and encouraging song that rides heavily on vocals. The instrumental is rather unique to usual Naniwa Danshi music but carries on the vibes of the album, reminding the listener that the musical journey is not over yet. “H.E.L.L.O” sounds like a calming walk in a green park on a nice sunny day under clear blue skies. The sounds of birds chirping in the song just adds to the imagery. Naniwa Danshi values the power of words and it’s evident in their music and works. “H.E.L.L.O” is a song that gives the listener a push on the back ever so gently.

As we are coming closer to the end of this incredible voyage, let’s not forget about Naniwa Danshi’s kansai spirit. “Bon Bon Voyage,” the song, not the album title, really ties the album together. It is one of the two bonus tracks in the regular version of the album, and sadly not available on streaming. The highlight of the song definitely has to be the lyrics that’s fully in kansai-ben. The chaotic summer festival vibes and the cheering of fans in the background sets the mood even more. It’s a song that can only be sung by Naniwa Danshi. Perfect song for a summer concert! Naniwa Danshi has uploaded a call and response cheering guide for “Bon Bon Voyage” on their Fan Club too, so make sure to check it out as well!

Last but not the least, “Seven seas.” A really bright and vibrant song that captures the essence of adventure and showcases a meaningful journey with a loved one. It’s a song that connects fans by celebrating hope, love, and destiny. If you notice the lyrics carefully, it has the names of all the members very carefully placed. Truly a song tailor-made for Naniwa Danshi. A perfect finale to their summer album.

From the start to end, BON BON VOYAGE as an album is a full-blown musical experience. A journey packed with excitement, warmth, and all the charm that only Naniwa Danshi can deliver. Whether you want to get on the dance floor, or simply want to relax to some heartfelt music, BON BON VOYAGE has it all! It’s an immersive musical adventure.
