Kis-My-Ft2 Celebrates 15 Years with New Single 'UNISON'

The six members of Kis-My-Ft2 (Kisumai) kicked off their 15th anniversary celebration with the release of a new digital single, “UNISON” and a YouTube livestream on Chabuuto no Hi (literally translated as “Brown Envelope Day”).

February 12 is a huge milestone day for both the group and their fans. 15 years ago, a brown envelope was handed to the members mid-concert during the MC portion of the show. Contained in that envelope was a handwritten letter, informing the group that their CD debut was on the horizon. From that moment on, February 12 was forever branded as Chabuuto no Hi by fans.

Their new single “UNISON” dropped on streaming platforms right at midnight on Chabuuto no Hi, and I know that I was not the only one who teared up as it played.

Listening to the lyrics, it’s a song inviting fans to join them in their journey and lean on them as they lean on us while heading towards the future. It reminds you that it’s okay if things seem to go wrong sometimes; you just have to pick yourself up and keep going. You’re never truly alone, and failure will only make you stronger. Taking an even deeper dive into the lyrics, they also mention that February 12th is their starting point.

One of my favorite things about the song is something that many fans were able to pick up on right away—the lyrics are full of song titles. This isn’t the first time that Kisumai has had iconic song titles hidden within their lyrics. “Mr. Star Light” was released in 2018, and I personally have been hoping for another song! (“Thank You Jyan!” also deserves an honorable mention at this point for hiding other group names in the lyrics!)

That same evening, the group did a livestream on their YouTube channel, which lasted for almost an hour and a half. They did a bunch of 15-second challenges in honor of their 15th anniversary that kept fans smiling and laughing along the whole time. Each member had a brown envelope of their own with a different announcement inside—an envelope of surprise.

Kis-My-Ft2’s new song “HEARTLOUD” will be the opening theme song for the TV anime series “MAO” coming this spring. Details on when and how the song will be released to come at a later date.

Announcement #2:

Kis-My-Ft2 will be holding a costume exhibition at PARCO. Costumes on display will range from recent costumes to iconic costumes of the past. Details to come at a later date.

Announcement #3:

Kis-My-Ft2’s YouTube channel will be working together with Television Nishinippon Corporation (TNC) to create a TV program scheduled to air this spring. Details to come at a later date.

Announcement #4:

Kis-My-Ft2 will be doing a 15-hour livestream on their YouTube channel for the first time. Details to come at a later date.

Announcement #5:

Starting with “UNISON”, Kis-My-Ft2 will be releasing a new song every month for the remainder of 2026. Details to come at a later date.

Announcement #6:

Kis-My-Ft2 will be doing an arena tour scheduled to kick off this June. Details to come at a later date.

Although details have not yet been released for any of these announcements, the members wanted to share as much information as they could on Chabuuto no Hi to really get the excitement going for their 15th anniversary celebration!

With so many things to look forward to already, who knows what other surprises they have in store for us this year!
