On August 16, 2026, STARTO Junior Hidaka Ukisho appeared in the fashion event “SBI Securities presents TGC MATSUYAMA 2026 by TOKYO GIRLS COLLECTION,” held at Ehime Budokan. This was the second time the event had been held in Matsuyama, two years after its previous edition, with the theme “RETRO-FUTURE SUMMER.” Models and guests including Yuchami, Anna Murashige, Nako Yabuki, and Alan Shirahama (GENERATIONS) gathered in a city where the scenery that captivated Meiji-era literary masters and haiku poets seamlessly blends with cutting-edge urban amenities. Artist stages featuring Hearts2Hearts, STU48, SWEET STEADY, and DXTEEN were also held, with Eiji Wentz and announcer Anna Nakagawa serving as MCs.
Representing the five-member group ACEes, who were selected as official supporters of the event, Hidaka hit the runway wearing a pink shirt made from Iyo kasuri, a traditional textile from Ehime. Looking out at the many fans who had rushed to the venue with cheering items, such as uchiwa fans and pen lights, he smiled and said, “It sounds like the announcement that I’d be appearing was only made this morning. And yet, so many of you came to see me.” He also praised the fans by telling them, “You’re all cute,” and introduced himself by saying, “I’m 24-year-old Hidaka Ukisho. I came here to make you all happy.” His remarks were met with loud cheers from the crowd.
Photos of Ukisho trying his hand at weaving Iyo kasuri, a traditional craft, and at “fruit thinning” at a mandarin orchard growing “Beni Madonna,” an original variety developed in Ehime, were then displayed on the monitor, drawing another huge cheer from the audience. At the end, he asked the fans, “Was I cool?” When they responded, “You were cool!” he left the stage with a satisfied expression. Before the event took place, he commented: “I had the opportunity to go on a pre-event location shoot to cover the attractions of Ehime.
I was deeply moved by the way everyone continues to preserve the traditions of the region despite the difficulties involved.”
