Visuals and press conference for the musical Mozart! starring SixTONES’ Taiga Kyomoto along with Yuta Furukawa

On January 16th, it was announced that SixTONES‘ Taiga Kyomoto would star in the musical called โ€œMozart!โ€, where he will play Wolfgang Mozart, in a double cast alongside famous musical actor Yuta Furukawa.

Taiga and Yuta acted together in 2015 in the double cast of Rudolph in the musical โ€œElizabeth.โ€

โ€œMozart!โ€ is a play that has a long run in Japan. It started in theaters in 2002 and has been performed in Japan eight times, with Japan’s most famous musical actors, such as Yoshio Inoue, Ikusaburo Yamazaki, Yuta Furukawa, among others, as the main cast.

It is the first time that Taiga stars in the role of Wolfgang Mozart, as well as the first time he stars in a play at the prestigious Tokyo Imperial Theater, which announced that it would close its doors in 2025 for reconstruction.

โ€œMozart!โ€ will be performed at the Imperial Theater in August and September, moving on to Osaka in October and ending in Fukuoka in November.

A few days ago, the visuals of the musical were revealed at a press conference in Tokyo, where Taiga and Yuta attended.

When asked about their impressions of each other and what they respect about each other, Yuta replied: “In the entertainment industry, I’ve seen many beautiful and cool people, but you (Taiga) are especially beautiful. I’m talking about his appearance now. Of course, I felt that when I played the same role as him, and when I saw the musical in which he played the lead role, I could once again feel his growth and how much effort he puts in on stage in places I couldn’t see”. Then, “I think I should be more confident, if I had this look (laughs)! but that’s not the only thing I respect about his efforts,” while appealing out loud.

In response, Taiga thanked him and said, “I feel exactly the same way. I really envy him, isn’t he so cool?” He also expressed his respect for Yuta‘s stoicism, sensitive acting and masculinity, saying, “He’s the ideal man for me.”

As this is my first challenge, I want to value the courage to take in various things in a fresh way while also valuing what I have experienced up to this point. Yuta said that he was going to push himself, but I think that unless I do it with the intention of killing myself and hurting myself to the point of breaking down, I won’t be able to move you or make you feel anything. I want to play this role with the support of my co-stars, the director and everyone else, but also with independence.

Taiga also talked about his fellow SixTONES‘ members.

Everyone is a genius, but Jesse, who is always beside me, says he’s not a genius. But from my point of view, he’s a massive talent. He’s cool in what he does with feeling and his musical level is high, but because he’s always by my side, when I see what I think he originally possesses, not to mention his efforts, I try my best too, and we have a good relationship and friendly competition every day.

The work that he was doing could only be done by him; even though I’ve been doing musicals for nearly ten years, if I tried, I wouldn’t be able to do that much. I don’t think of myself as the musical person in the group, so I hope we can inspire each other. For example, I am happy when the members see me in a film or drama, and I hope we can respect each other for a long time. We all have our own specialities, but in the end, we can do anything we set our minds to. That’s what I respect and like about SixTONES.
