As October 1 approaches, a new chapter opens for fans of WEST.—and perhaps an introduction for those meeting them for the first time. With their catalog finally coming to streaming platforms, listeners everywhere will be able to trace the group’s journey, from their playful beginnings to their bold present.

First released as part of their 21st single Zettai Zetsumei / Beautiful / AS ONE, this track carries a special weight. Not only did it serve as the opening theme for Captain Tsubasa: Junior Youth Arc, it also became their final release under the previous agency name banner before their rebirth as WEST. in 2023.

On its surface, it’s an electrifying anime anthem; underneath, it’s a rallying cry etched in sweat and solidarity, reminding us that the falls we take aren’t endings, but echoes urging us forward.

Penned by WaO and arranged by NAOKI-T, the lyrics are a raw inventory of resilience. As Daiki Shigeoka’s raw voice soared into “挑み続けるよそう何度でも” (I’ll keep challenging myself, yes, no matter how many times), chills ran down my spine at my first listen, before it was embraced by the softer pre-chorus, building into the chorus.

The choruses evoke a sense of nostalgia similar to BoA’s “MASAYUME CHASING,” capturing that essence in a delightful manner. Though musically different at its core, both tracks are linked to anime, embodying a shared theme of fervent ambition and the relentless pursuit of one’s dreams.

The music video amplifies this message into a pulse-pounding spectacle. Shot on a massive outdoor circular stage under the sweltering summer sun—sweat-drenched, unrelenting, moving as one. High-octane choreography collides with the imagination of soaring kicks, impossible goals, and that spirit of unity over isolation that you’d get from the anime. The way they move as one unit, like they’re defying gravity—it’s not just dance, it’s defiance.

The relentless camera draws you in, syncing your heartbeat with the pounding bass and euphoric synth swells along with the chorus of “Wow’s” that pulls on your heart. By the time the chant of “go! go! goal!” erupts and the final formation locks into place under a blazing sky, you’re no longer just watching—you’re running with them.

The constant moment in the MV was cathartic overload, similar to watching team run on the soccer field, and made watching the MV a full-body experience. WEST. has a magic touch to their MVs as their storytelling is impeccable, and you can’t help but be drawn into their world as the song goes on.
