timelesz “Steal The Show” MV: Spotlight Taken, Era Begun

timelesz have dropped the highly anticipated music video for their latest track, “Steal The Show,” the official NTV Basketball Support Song.

With today’s MV release, October 8, 20:00 JST, its message of determination and bold ambition is vividly brought to life — not only echoing the Japanese team’s drive to “shock the world,” but also marking timelesz’s own declaration of intent in their new era.

In the high-stakes world of J-pop, where boy bands evolve as dynamically as the seasons, timelesz has emerged as a force redefining legacy and renewal. Formerly known as Sexy Zone, the eight-member group —Shori Sato, Fuma Kikuchi, So Matsushima, Takuto Teranishi, Yoshitaka Hara, Masaki Hashimoto, Shuto Inomata, and Taiki Shinozuka —dropped the MV for the electrifying track “Steal The Show” from their upcoming double A-side release Steal the Show / Recipe (out November 12, 2025).

This isn’t just a song; it’s a manifesto of grit, unity, and unapologetic drive, perfectly synced with the pulse of Japan’s basketball scene. Linking timelesz’s ambitions with the national team’s vow to “shock the world” under the slogan “We’ll reach the world,” the track now takes on fresh dimension with its MV — a vivid showcase of determination, resilience, and ambition brought to life through dynamic visuals and choreography.

To understand the weight of “Steal The Show,” you have to rewind to timelesz’s origin story. Debuting in 2011 as Sexy Zone, the group quickly became a cornerstone of the agency and the entertainment industry, blending youthful charm with polished performances despite their young age. But 2024 marked a pivotal shift: after farewells from members Kento Nakajima and Marius Yo, the remaining trio — Shori, Fuma, and So-chan— launched the timelesz project -AUDITION, an open audition that welcomed five new dynamic members.

The name “timelesz” nods both to their “timeless” appeal and to the initials “sz,” bridging past and future. This reinvention culminated in their first eight-member tour, We’re timelesz LIVE TOUR 2025 episode 1 FAM, which kicked off in June 2025 across Japan. It was during this tour that “Steal The Show” debuted live, electrifying the crowd.

At its core, Steal The Show is an “assertive dance number” that pulses with the intensity of a buzzer-beater. Its lyrics speak to turning sparks of hope and confidence into strength, the bonds forged with teammates and loved ones, and the universal will to push through adversity.

The title phrase comes from the rap section — written entirely by member Fuma Kikuchi in his role as NTV’s Special Basketball Caster. Meaning “to seize the spotlight” or “to steal the scene,” the phrase runs through the track like a fast break. Fuma’s lyrics infuse swagger and grit:

“If we’re doing it, let’s go big / Right here, steal the show.”

I focused on basketball, matches, and competition,” Fuma added. “I wanted the energy and tension to be right. I think people will enjoy it — and I wanted to make the most of the atmosphere and groove that only the eight of us together can create.”

Musically, it’s indeed a high-energy production, blending sharp beats with soaring harmonies that showcase the octet’s synergy. Its English-infused intro hooks global listeners before diving into Japanese verses full of sweat, perseverance, and breakthroughs.

The music video captures this blaze in stark, cinematic glory. Against a sleek, near-futuristic set, a bank vault door, and a golden chandelier—we witness the eight in perfect sync, their movements a razor-sharp blend of precision and power.

The pastel tailoring reads playful and wide‑open, while the darker, leather-heavy palette plunges the MV into after‑hours mode—nocturnal, tight, and gritty, like a players’ tunnel before tip‑off. It compresses the eight into a single surge of intent, sharpening the song’s competitive edge and the “steal” ethos.

When the vocals lock in, the first thing that lands is how naturally Tera’s tone slots against Fuma’s. As the group’s most flexible all‑rounder, Fuma carries an unusually broad toolkit — grounded lows, confident belts, razor‑clean rap phrasing, ad‑libs that lift the hook, harmonies that glue sections together, and projection that cuts through the mix. That’s why he often anchors the song’s decisive lines.

In the new eight‑member setup, those roles expand rather than shrink: Tera and Masaki color the upper register alongside him, while Hara and Shino reinforce the rap parts. The result isn’t Fuma “losing” space; it’s the opposite — the distribution lets him choose his moments, sharpen the verses and rap break, and make every entry count, so the track feels more architected and his spotlight hits harder when it lands.

As Fuma raps about taking the stage by storm, timelesz remind us that true stars don’t wait for the spotlight — they steal it. Whether on the court or on stage, “Steal The Show” is an anthem for underdogs everywhere. And for timelesz, it’s more than a song — it’s their declaration of a timeless new era.

The bank vault door in the MV reads as more than a simple heist cue. It feels like a metaphor for what’s ahead — a future sealed on the other side. We never see the eight open it, not because they can’t, but because they won’t yet; they’re choosing the moment, tightening the formation before the turn of the wheel. It frames this era as one breath before ignition: one door from the next chapter, a promise that the real “steal” comes next.

Fuma’s brief grab of the red stone lingers: it throbs with a heartbeat glow, less loot than signal. Read against the vault imagery, it plays like a pilot light—ambition and resolve made tangible—carried by the group’s on‑court spokesman. It’s the spark they’ll bring through the door when the moment to turn the wheel finally arrives.

With “Steal The Show, timelesz align themselves with the Japanese national basketball team in more ways than one. Both share the same determination: to push higher, aim further, and seize the spotlight. Now, with the music video released, that determination is vividly realized — through powerful choreography, striking visuals, and the unmistakable energy of timelesz stepping boldly into their next chapter as we witness the group grow closer and stronger.

This is the anthem that binds old guards and fresh blood, turning viewers into believers. Because, in the endless grind of spotlights and sidelines, what are the odds that eight souls—from weathered vets to wide-eyed rookies—would collide and craft this inferno? Odds be damned; they’ve stolen the narrative.
