SixTONES’ Hokuto Matsumura to star in Netflix drama “Sins of Kujo”

It has been announced that SixTONES’ Hokuto Matsumura will star in the Netflix drama “Sins of Kujo”, along with Yuya Yagira. The drama is set to be released on Netflix worldwide in spring 2026.

This live-action adaptation is based on the latest manga “Kujō no Daizai” by Shohei Manabe, creator of the popular manga “Yamikin Ushijima-kun”. Yuya Yagira will portray Kujō Taiza, a lawyer who takes on only troublesome and morally ambiguous cases. Hokuto Matsumura has been cast as Karasuma Shinji, a young, brilliant elite lawyer and University of Tokyo graduate who suddenly ends up working for Kujo as an “Isoben” (short for “resident lawyer”).

In addition to Yuya Yagira and Hokuto Matsumura, the cast includes Elaiza Ikeda as Hitomi Yakushimae, a social worker who supports offenders from outside the legal system; Keita Machida as Kengo Mibu, the president of an auto repair shop secretly connected to the underworld and who brings Kujo difficult cases; Takuma Oto as Detective Arashiyama, who holds a personal grudge against both Kujo and Mibu; and Muro Tsuyoshi as Kiyoshi Kyogoku, the underboss of the Fushimi crime syndicate.

The series is directed by Nobuhiro Doi (We Made a Beautiful Bouquet, The Voice of Sin, Quartet), Takeyoshi Yamamoto, and Hiroshi Adachi, with hitmaker Jun Nasuda (We Married as a Job, The Voice of Sin, Ryusei no Kizuna) serving as producer. This marks the first collaboration between Nasuda and Netflix Japan, following the streamer’s success in the crime-suspense genre with “Tokyo Swindlers“.

COMMENT BY HOKUTO

Kujo is a man with a dangerous kind of coolness, a hidden depth of strong affection, and an air of loneliness that makes him truly endearing.
Now that filming has wrapped, I feel that my character, Karasuma, exists as someone who continues to watch and look up to Kujo, played by Yuya Yagira.
Being able to feel that through Karasuma makes me believe that this was the right way to portray him. There are many other fascinating and unforgettable characters, each with their own stories. I hope viewers will enjoy being drawn into their lives and into this world as much as I was.
