Travis Japan’s Disco Baby: Nostalgia’s Travelers

Travis Japan are back — and they’re ready to dance their way straight into your heart. With “Disco Baby,” the electrifying lead single from their upcoming album ‘s travelers, the seven-member dance and vocal group once again prove why their name has become synonymous with energy, precision, and joy.

Now streaming worldwide, the track is a glimmering love letter to the golden age of disco — layered with brass, synths, and a groove that invites the whole world to the floor. It captures everything fans adore about them: their unity, their radiant stage presence, and their uncanny ability to turn rhythm into emotion.

The album title, ‘s travelers’, is a coined term combining “〇〇’s” with “travelers.” The concept was named by member Kaito “Machu” Matsukura, who also serves as the album’s overall producer.

The apostrophe before the s signifies that various eras and words can fill that space—representing Travis Japan’s journey aboard their whimsical strawberry-shaped time machine through music.

Spanning from the 1950s to the present day, the album explores a wide range of genres including disco, swing jazz, hip-hop, ballads, and EDM—creating what Machu describes as a “listening time machine.”

The revealed cover artworks feature 80s-inspired visuals and imaginative scenes of time travel, each one including the strawberry time machine motif. The album will be released in four editions: the Fan Club Limited Edition, First Press T Version, First Press J Version, and Standard Edition.

Across all versions, the album includes fifteen tracks, featuring the lead song “Disco Baby,” as well as Say I do / Tokyo Crazy Night and Would You Like One? (the theme song for Dream Animals: The Movie), now re-recorded in their completed seven-member formation following member Noel Kawashima’s return in June.

Together, these songs encapsulate the essence of Travis Japan—a group that continues to evolve while staying true to their identity: timeless travelers connecting past, present, and future through music.

“Disco Baby” is both nostalgic and refreshing — a track that blends retro brass and glossy synths with a modern rhythm that feels alive. The melody is playful yet intricate, the kind of song that makes your body instinctively want to move. There’s a sense of celebration in every beat; a musical high that captures what disco has always meant — joy shared on a dance floor, no matter who you are or where you come from.

For many, it brought back the feeling of watching classic musicals or the carefree excitement of prom-night scenes from movies, but with that unmistakable Travis Japan twist — sharper, brighter, and radiating warmth. The song’s groove seems to dissolve the line between performer and listener, creating a space where everyone is invited to dance together, just as the group’s motto has always promised.

The music video brings this world vividly to life. Filmed in a retro-styled school setting, it unfolds like a dream prom night — playful, cinematic, and brimming with color. Each frame sparkles with movement, from group choreography to fleeting moments between members that make the performance feel alive and unscripted.

Directed by HQF and choreographed by Shiggy (marking their second collaboration after “Okie Dokie!”), the MV embraces the same carefree happiness that defines Travis Japan’s artistry. It’s impossible to watch without smiling as they cast a magic spell on everyone!

What makes “Disco Baby” remarkable, however, isn’t just its nostalgic sound or dazzling visuals — it’s the emotion that radiates from it. Listeners from every corner of the fandom describe being swept into a wave of warmth and excitement—pure joy—as if the song itself were a reminder that happiness can still be loud, glittering, and shared. Fans from other groups, too, express the same sentiment: that Travis Japan’s energy is contagious — the kind that makes even a casual listener want to get up and dance.

For longtime followers, the release feels like a culmination of everything the group has built: the years of persistence, the belief in global connection through dance, and the promise of seven hearts moving as one. Each step, every synchronized spin, feels both playful and precise, their smiles carrying the kind of sincerity that can’t be rehearsed.

Watching the MV, it becomes clear why Travis Japan is so dear to many. There’s something magical in the way they make complexity look effortless — how a formation shift becomes a story, how a single look between members conveys trust and joy. It’s more than performance; it’s a timeless communication through rhythm.

The closing shot, where the group boards their strawberry time machine, feels symbolic: an invitation to follow wherever their next adventure leads. “Disco Baby” doesn’t just mark a new chapter for Travis Japan — it rekindles that shared feeling that first drew so many to them. The song glows with nostalgia, yet points firmly toward the future, proving that no matter the era or genre, the essence of Travis Japan remains the same: bright, boundless, and beautifully united.

Because for them, and for everyone who believes in their music, joy isn’t a moment — it’s a movement.
