From renewed classics to a new Quiet Session Club: Everything about ‘Waltz for Lily,’ — King & Prince’s highly anticipated 18th single

King & Prince returns to the music scene on 25 March with their 18th single, entitled “Waltz for Lily”. This release, which serves as the theme song for the live-action film “Oni no Hanayome” (The Devil’s Bride), promises to be a visual and auditory masterpiece, notable for its ethereal covers and unreleased content ranging from intimate studio sessions to documentary recordings of their most recent events.

Following the success of their previous work, “Theatre,”marked by funk rhythms, Kaito and Ren, now explore a much more mature and romantic terrain. “Waltz for Lily” is described as a beautiful love song that combines the elegance of a classic waltz with traditional Japanese nuances. The lyrics narrate in an ephemeral but hopeful way the predestined encounter between two people, a concept that fits perfectly with the plot of the film starring Ren himself.

The reveal of the single covers has caused quite a stir on social media. Fans have described the images as “straight out of a painting” or “like something out of a fairy tale.” In the different versions of the CD, the members sport carefully selected outfits that incorporate floral elements and shiny materials, seeking total harmony with the setting.

The release is divided into four editions, each with exclusive audio and video content (Blu-ray/DVD).

In addition, coinciding with Setsubun Day (3 February), a “special movie” has been released that combines scenes from the film “Oni no Hanayome” with the chords of “Waltz for Lily“. The song highlights the melancholy and strength of the bond between the two characters. While in Japanese folklore Setsubun is the day to drive away demons (“Oni wa soto“) and throwing beans, but the video plays with this concept by presenting an “Oni” who, far from being evil, seeks to protect his beloved for all eternity; an “Oni” who knows no love’ rises to the top of the Ayakashi clan, but feels lonely under the weight of family responsibilities, while a “human abandoned by love,” is on the verge of despair, without the love of her family. The video captures both of them, each living alone in their own world, meeting and being drawn to each other as if pulled by an irresistible thread of fate. The scenes show the evolution of their relationship: from initial loneliness to moments of everyday tenderness, such as cooking together, all enveloped by the sweet and mature voices of Ren and Kaito.

The MV teaser has already racked up thousands of views, with comments praising King & Prince‘s transition to a more sophisticated and aesthetic style. The inclusion of songs such as “Misbehave” and “I Promise” in self-cover format (Re:) has been met with nostalgia and enthusiasm, cementing this single not only as a film soundtrack, but as a must-have gift for collectors.

With this release, King & Prince demonstrates that their capacity for reinvention knows no bounds, fusing Japanese tradition with modern pop and cinematic narrative. “Waltz for Lily” promises to be the soundtrack to spring 2026.

  1. Just wanted to point out the the film’s title is Oni no Hanayome. The article keeps referring it as Ore no Hanayome.
