Snow Man member Daisuke Sakuma has been cast in the second cour of “Ace of Diamond act II -Second Season-“ (ダイヤのA actⅡ -Second Season-), which will air Sundays beginning October 11. He will play the role of Shinichiro Saotome, a second-year student at Inashiro Industrial High School who plays right field.
Although he possesses exceptionally high baseball instincts, Shinichiro has suffered frequent injuries and did not see much playing time during his first year of high school. He is a versatile left-handed batter capable of hitting to all areas of the field.
The “Ace of Diamond” anime series is based on the popular manga by Yuji Terajima and began airing in 2013. The story follows Eijun Sawamura, who enters Seido High School, a powerhouse in high school baseball, and aims for the pinnacle of high school baseball in Japan alongside Kazuya Miyuki, Satoru Furuya, Haruichi Kominato, and others on the baseball team.
After the series aired as FIRST SEASON and SECOND SEASON, a new series titled “act II” aired from 2019 to 2020. Production of a sequel to act II was announced in 2024, and the first cour aired from April through June 2026.
Streaming information has also been announced. As with the first cour, the series will be available for advance streaming on Netflix immediately after its broadcast, followed by sequential releases on other platforms.
The newly released key visual depicts the Seido players facing their longtime rivals, Inashiro Industrial, and its ace, Mei Narumiya. It features Eijun Sawamura and Satoru Furuya, who are likely to face the Narumiya together; Kazuya Miyuki, their rival since their junior baseball days; and Haruichi Kominato and Yoichi Kuramochi, whose dream of going to Koshien alongside Haruichi‘s older brother and senior was thwarted. These five characters are depicted in dynamic poses, along with Narumiya, who stands in Seido’s way as the “King.”
